Comment:
Having a professor who is deeply rooted in religion is terrible when discussing ethics of major issues like abortion. He is completely biased and won't listen to any other opinions other than what the church has taught him to say. Stay away if you are intelligent to form your own opinions.

Dr Schwartz is a man of integrity, knowledge, and wisdom. He is the consummate professor & his courses are life-changing. Am grateful someone of his stature still teaches at URI. Unlike so many other Depts (e.g. Com Studies) who seem to employ former URI grads who are not prepared to teach & who are not well-read intellectuals, Phil & Dr.S are TOPS

I hated him. He keeps saying he will be unbiased but every single thing he says has his opinion on it. He says one thing and then a minute later does the opposite. A lot of unnecessary reading that creates a lot of extra work. His grading his ridiculous and won't change grades even when proven wrong. He wants to be helpful but only on his terms.

He is very excited about everything he teaches and truly loves the subject. He is really nice and understanding and so is the TA. There are homeworks due every class but they rarely take longer than about 15 to do. The tests aren't hard either as long as you go to class and go to Kiki's review sessions. I would definitely recommend it.

Must go to his office to talk about class topics.Too much work; 3-5 news articles per night to read, highlight and respond to, 1-2 chapters in a book per night to read and outline, on top of exams and take home quizzes. Too easily distracted. (cont'd)

Hes a great teacher, who loves his job. He gives a lot of busy work. You have homework every class and during class all you do is take notes. He gives pop quizes. The tests are easy if you go to the review sessions. As long as you do your homework and show up to class and reviews sessions its hard not to get an A

Dr. Schwarz is the best professer at URI, and if you cant see that then you suck at life. Appreciate the man's presence. Sometimes its hard not to laugh at him bc of his extreme enthusiasm and sillyness. I love this man. Take his classes and pay attention. You dont even have to keep up with the readings if ur smart. Just study.

Schwarz is the most amazing guy ever. Anyone who gave him a bad rating or accused him of being boring is not a philosopher. He is bursting with life, energy, and love for philosophy and his class is extremely informative and engaging. Pay attention and do a little reading and you will get an A. I love Schwarz!

If I had to guess, I'd say that the people who posted negative ratings are the students who don't show up, don't read, and don't study. If you're a slacker who doesn't take the time to study, don't take his courses. The material is not difficult, but you need to STUDY for his exams. He's a nice, enthusiastic, caring guy.

You need to attend class, but you won't mind having to because his personality keeps the class interesting and engaging.
