Had him for Lab. He is a nice guy. Seems to care about whether the students actually learn. His quizzes are brutal! He gets way in depth compared to what was covered in class.He did realize that he was too tough near the end of the semester and let up. The overall grades improved by about 10% at that point. He does listen to consrtuctive criticism.

Burton is a personality. He challenges you to really explain yourself & back yourself up with science, which is why people feel belittled by him sometimes. If you do the work you can pull of a good grade. However, it did seem like the class was on the back burner at times for him. If you put the effort into trying, you can do well.

Prof. Burton is one of the best profs i have had at GVSU You are expected to do a ton of work, but it is all worth it in the end! If you take the responsibility to learn, you will learn more than you can imagine from him.

Had him for Ecology. You are responsible for your own learning! If you understand this concept then you will do fine in his class. One of the most difficult professors I have ever had, but I learned more than I could ask for. Act professional, Always come to class, and be ready to talk. Become responsible for your own learning!

AWFUL. full of himself. he doesnt accept any other views other than evolution. the entire class should just be called evolution101. he challenges students to think independently about what they've been told; but at the same time thinks anyone who believes that evolution is wrong is a fool.

This guy is a jerk! Constantly degrades students, acts like he is a gift to the field of science. Makes nasty comments and acts as though he is superior to everyone. I do not reccomend him to anyone! Thinks that his class is the most important thing in the world next to himself.

I have had Burton for bio 121 and sci 336. He is the most difficult professor I have ever had but I have never learned more. He is very helpful and very dedicated to students. He makes you think and he makes you work, this is why some people have a problem with him, he does his job.

Overall, a nice guy. Does have a hard time clarifying things sometimes. Wants students to do well though. Field trips are fun! exams not too bad if you study. Final was long and hard but he didn't mean it to be. Doesn't sound like it would happen in the future. Deserves some credit.

this professor is awful. his labs are equivalent to another lecture. he doesn't care about what you do in the lab he would just rather spend time teaching stuff that should only be taught in lecture. The toughest grader in all of GV. GET OUT FAST!!!!!!!!!
