Dr. Cook is an amazing professor. I took a total of 3 classes from him during my college career and even though he was sometimes tough on his class, you ended up learning A LOT. He had an awesome sense of humor as well. Sad to see him retire.

This class was not easy for me in the beginning with regards to figuring out exactly what he wanted from me in my papers, but once I figured it out it benefited me in the rest of my classes as well. He is very willing to help and see that you get to a point of success.

Dr. Cook is my favorite professor at Westmont, he engages literature and students in a very personal way. If you make the effort to be interested in the materials and his lectures you will be rewarded with a life-changing learning experience. If you take the opportunity for granted, he will hate you.

Not an easy class or easy guy to figure out at first, but an interesting class and I'm glad I had this prof. I got the feeling he was just trying to weed out people at the beginning who didn't care and couldn't be bothered to engage, but you can learn a lot from him and he actually cares a great deal and rewards thoughtfulness and effort. Good man!

Dr. Cook isn't your usual anything (and I think is proud of that). His class can be challenging, but I've gone from thinking him intimidating and frustrating to figure out to seeing what a sharp, truly caring and funny man he is (dry humor). He's passionate about teaching and expects focus and effort, but many grow to love him and learn so much.

My favorite teacher so far. He is brilliant, inspiring, and extremely passionate about teaching. He teaches you how to read in an entirely different way, and how to write a paper that actually means something. Don't be intimidated by him, that's not his goal. And don't take this class for the grade, take it to learn.

Wonderful wonderful man. Cares deeply about the lives and learning of his students. Endlessly and rightly frustrated by students who don't care. Really flexible with syllabus and assignments. Just show that you are actually working and more importantly that you are thinking and you will do fine.

Cook really cares about the material he teaches and it shows. Classes are relatively interesting, participate a lot (I heard he develops favorites). He's pretty humorous and flexible when it comes to the syllabus. If you're a good writer, write your best on all the papers (4 or 5) and you should be more than fine.

This was the WORST class I took at Westmont-- he started class 10 min. early every time (a HUGE problem when a large portion of your grade depends on pop quizzes which aren't hard but they negatively impact your grade when you miss them). I hated the class, as did all my friends. There are much better professors at Westmont-- find someone else!
