I really liked PHGY 355, no matter how difficult of a marker Dr. Iscoe was. He taught very useful lab and presentation skills, he cares about his students and wants them to do VERY well. He is understanding and will help you. I appreciate that he marks labs as if his students were his colleagues. He is a brilliant man in terms of his research.

Not the most interesting prof, but he definitely knows his stuff. Definitely has a bit of an ego, but he is very clear on what he wants, KNOW THE LECTURE OBJECTIVES! If you go over his lecture notes, although they're daunting, you'll be ok on the exam. Be warned though, the questions are very practical, and simple memorization won't be good enough

Heard a lot about this guy before going into his respiratory physiology section of course, and all throughout his lectures, I was terrified for the exam. But his notes (although long/ominous) are really helpful when you break them down & knowing all his lecture objectives (which are specific and listed) helped me do VERY well on the exam, who knew!

Seemed scary in PHGY 214... he's tough because he wants you to do well. The section he taught was actually my favourite because he was so open to student input, he never shot down an idea/suggestion. He is a hard marker, but only because he wants you to improve- I went up 13% from my 1st lab mark, and he made the 2nd one worth more anyways!

I think some of these reviews have been unfair. Perhaps he is a bit arrogant but at least he has the intelligence to back it up. If you're not bothered by his peeves you can learn a lot from his lectures. Know all his LECTURE OBJECTIVES before any exam.

It is typical of Life Sci's and the like to make such bashings. Personally, I noticed that he did talk about his colleagues, but who cares...the fact is, the man did his job. Taught the course well, and was very accomodating outside of classroom.
