Lectures are very interesting, and he does a great job of breaking up what you do during the duration of his class. Tests are very easy, and textbook is not really necessary. Overall a great professor!

Steve shows videos on every chapter. His tests are very short so if you miss one question your grade has dropped by 5%. That being said his tests are very easy and the class before he tells you what is exactly on the tests so study that. I used the class period to work on other school work and still got an A in the class.

I highly recommend this teacher for this class. I took this class online for a summer semester course and was pleasantly suprised on how organized the instuctor had the course laid out. I knew exactly what was expected of me each week as the instructions for each assignment along with the due dates were clearly laid out.

Professor Sherlock is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very clear on what will be on the upcoming tests and has you use the syllabus as a study guide. There are 3 exams including the final and he has you do about 10 in-class journals, they are very easy. His tests are about 10-12 multiple choice and 5-6 short answer, easy as well.

The class is almost 100% lecture. I took a 3 hour class of his and although it was kinda boring, he added some interesting things in there such as videos to make it more interesting. Hes a bit monotone, but he definitely knows his stuff. For my class, there were only 4 grades for the entire semester. A bit scary, but ok if you study for the exams.

Dr. Sherlock wasn't too bad. I think what made it hard was that it was a 3 hour class. However class was made up of lecture and videos with readings. Not too hard, but the tests were kind of set up weird where he would give only the multiple choice section and then after that the essay portion but the tests wasn't hard.

Sherlock doesn't put in grades and it is very frustrating. The lectures are boring and he shows a lot of movies. he is a nice man but is boring.

He was pretty good. The class itself is kind of boring because he shows too many outdated movies and no one responds. His test questions are pretty clear cut and take minimal studying.

Efficient and straightforward. Very knowledgeable about sociology, and truly teaches in an unbiased informative manner. Grades are based off of in class activities and three very straight-forward lecture based exams. You can miss class without if affecting your grade directly. You'll actually learn something useful to understanding the world.

Pretty straightforward class. As long as you show up and take notes, you should be fine. Exams are fairly easy if you just study a little the night before. The final isn't cumulative. The only thing that was a little annoying is that he doesn't put grades in until the end. Overall, pretty clear-cut and interesting class!

Overall, I feel that his classes were not especially difficult, however, if you don't show up to his lectures then you miss out on a lot. I found it best to jot down notes while he lectured because he did not use powerpoint. Also, I wouldn't invest in buying the textbooks, just pay attention to the lectures.

I had a 3 hour Monday class and enjoyed it. Long lectures & less participation than some other sociology classes I've had, but I enjoyed that. It allowed me to focus most on listening and taking notes. Most importantly, he gives great reviews before tests, he makes sure you know exactly what to know. As an average student, I got 90+% on each test.

This is my favorite prof at SVSU! If you go to class and take good notes you will be golden. When he goes over the syllabus for what is on the tests, rewrite the notes you already took on different pieces of paper and study it. He gives you 100% of the information that will be on the tests in lectures. Final is not cummulative. Highly recommend!

Good prof but class is completely lecture-based. No homework, but to pass you HAVE to go and take good notes. Class is out of 400 points- 3 100 pt. tests & 1 100 pt. journal. Tests consist of 6-7 "short" (long) answer ?'s (10 pt each) & 6-8 multiple choice ?'s (5 pt each). Journal is wksts from class & 1 group project (basically 100% if all done).

Show up to class + write down everything he writes on board Passing with an A You do need to study the material, but he goes over exactly what will be on the exams the class before you take the exam. Easy to understand, clear-cut. Lots of videos in class, and journal assignments.

Sherlock was one of my favorite professors because I really learned in his class and he really has passion for what he talks about. I loved watching his face when people gave presentations because you could tell he loved it. You can definitely skip his class a few times and pass, but you'll have to do your own studying to make up for it.
