Comment:

He attempts to "fix" your painting without asking and rarely ever gives good advice. If you don't kiss butt he won't like your paintings and will make a point to indirectly tell you. This class is not for you if you can't take being yelled at.

Comment:

Took ART1010 an entry level course for my minor. I don't have any drawing or art experience besides painting in kindergarten. He did provide some help, and I did make some progress with some drawing techniques. By the end of the semester my art pieces were much better than when I entered the course. However, he still graded like it was upr lvl cls.

He is always late for class, it's up to 20 minutes late. He also will leave the classroom for up to 30 minutes. He tries to help you, but he is never in the classroom to be able to. He always wants you to use his ideas for project and never seems to be happy with what you want to do. He also has his favorites.

He isn't too tough when it comes to grading. His lectures are horrible and he does drag them out for 2 hours. He also has a habit of leaving the classroom for usually 20 minutes at a time throughout the class period. He does take attendance, so make sure you show up. If you leave early you better have a doc note or he'll mark you absent for the day

Sucks as an Illustration teacher. Respects your ideas but really pushing his ideas on you. Very limited imagination, so you can't really explore your own creativity or try different mediums together without him giving you bad input. Extremely critical of your ideas and expects masterpieces. Really hard prof to please.

He is a professor that genuinely wants you to learn to paint well, however, sometimes I felt that he gave a little too much feedback while I was in the process of making my painting. Sometimes I like to be left alone so I can make my painting the way I like to make it. But hey, maybe his teaching helped me be less stubborn. He definitely cares.

Horrible professor! Doesn't care about his students and will only tell you whats wrong with your work and how to improve it in the worst way. Very stuck up and if you really suck up to him you will get a good grade. Try to avoid if possible!

if you take beginning painting, just be warned that your painting will always be wrong. His lectures will make you fall asleep, and I can guarantee he'll either draw on your painting or grab your paintbrush and try to "fix it".

huge jerk. plays favorites. if you have ideas other than his then you suck as an artist in his opinion. attempts to help by acting friendly but really he just wants you to turn your painting into his painting. if you love painting crazy still life and hate using your own ideas, then this is the class for you. also, he knows nothing about abstract.
