Took him in summer, he goes VERY fast and the lectures are quite confusing. GO TO THE LAB it helps a lot. Tests are from the hw but pretty hard. He gives a lottt of hw so make sure to stay on track. This class was not easy I can assure you that.

I had to miss a couple classes due to illness and I found the exams to be super difficult after missing. Weekly homework to do and they are super long. He grades super harsh with not a lot of partial. His lectures are really interesting and he works through problems. However, he talks and writes super fast. My tip is to make a bunch of friends!

This was a challenging class for a first-time-take statistics class. Dr. Crunk has a good method when it comes to explaining hard concepts, but his explanations are quite fast and it's hard to keep up. The final exam for this class was extremely hard for me even after pulling an all-nighter. He has an amazing background.

Comment:
Crunk speaks very quickly and has his back turned toward his students for most of the class period. He does not grade homework proportionally to the amount of problems he assigns, so he devastates your hw scores by deducting points in full or half point increments. Highly respectable background, but not a very good teacher. Don't recommend.

Prof. Crunks class is a lot of fun. He explains everything very clearly. He covers a lot of materials. His class is a good choice for math and statistics majors. He cares about his students and he answers students questions in details. He is a fair grader. As long as you work hard in his class, you will get good grade.

Professor Crunk makes math fun. I really liked his course over summer and recommend taking Math 161A with him. Very easy too approach, doesn't move too fast, and really makes the class enjoyable. He brings treats for you on the last day too! It wasn't too much work, homework was pretty easy and the class is straightforward.

MATH161A is an extremely difficult subject but Dr. Crunk does an excellent job of conveying the challenging material across to students. He has a great sense of humor and will occasionally share an inspiring story about himself or an experience. Examples in lecture are very good so don't skip class. #originalcrunk

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He went through lectures very fast, and if he always talked until the very end of class. Lectures rarely made sense, so you have to teach yourself the material. Homework and tests were hard. His office hours were not helpful. The only good thing is he graded on a very generous curve.

Summer'14. I would not recommend taking during summer if you are a 1st timer.Class is tough, fast, and tons of hw!All online $75.One of the better math teachers at SJSU, real helpful, approachable and nice. He graded on a generous curve. Just do the hw and you'll do fine. Exam questions were straight from hw. He made math71 less painful.

English oriented class. Lots academic journals to read but some of them makes no sense. Write good reading and consulting log for yourself. Hard to get a piece of info during class discussions, especially the presentation on special statistical methods. Just stay on top of everything and be organized, donĂ¢€™t complain. Just do it. Be a statistician.

This was a remedial statistics course and we were the first class to have it. It's not his fault that everything was new material, but it was not easy to understand. He wants all his students to pass, which I think mostly everyone did, but it was not easy

Took this class over the summer. It required quite a bit of studying but so much easier to take this class over the summer. This was my third time taking this class. Dont take this class over the regular semester if u are not good at math. He curves pretty well. He assigns homework on webassign which is very easy. I got a B+

Excellent professor. Not easy, but you will learn a lot. He really enjoys the subject and it shows. Talks quickly, and midterms are cumulative. Midterms are hard but fair. Helpful in office hours. Midterms/homework are heavily based on the lectures so you must go to them. Would recommend him if you want to learn.

He is a very thorough professor. He lectures for the whole period, so keep on your toes. For homework, he chooses the hardest problems in the book that you have to finish to do good in class. His midterms are pretty challenging. Stay on top of everything and you should be able to make it through. I did. Whew.....

At first, I was completely shocked at the unexpected difficulty of his lectures and HW problems, but then you study and get over it. The class was VERY interesting. Even his exams are interesting and carefully written; almost every problem has an interesting point. And minimal usage of baby formula spoon-feeding! Generous curve as well.

Great Professor. His lectures were easy to follow and clear. He made the subject easy to understand. Gave students the opportunity to ask questions if topic was not understood. Very well organized lectures. Online HW was very useful. Mids and final was a bit hard but questions came from HW and book. Highly recommended.
