This online class was an insane amount of work. His FIVE assignments took so much time and effort to complete and then the final exam tested on things that weren't even covered in the assignments, even though that's what I was told to study (and trust me I memorized it ALL)! Basically he expects you to memorize an entire textbook and marks HARD.

Steve is the reason I kept going with Geology, and fell in love with it. Excellent teaching skills, beyond knowledgeable in the topics, and very fair in his marking. Assignments will push your brain beyond the class material, as will his infamous "take-home" exams - he doesn't just want you to regurgitate the lecture material, he wants you to learn

I am shocked that he has positive comments here! Steve just read off his slides each class, and never took the time to know any of our names. You could easily miss every class and just read the online notes. And, his exams often asked questions that weren't covered in class at all. I wouldn't take a class with him ever again.

A patient and understanding teacher! This course was online and the units weren't too hard, but the final was rough. Still did well and he's a very generous marker. Quick at responding to his emails to help too. Best science teacher I dealt with throughout my non science degree.

I'm awful at Science but i had to take a lab course for the edu program, and taking it with Steve was the best decision i've made. He was fair, approchable and a great teacher. I usually just scrape by in any Science but i left his class with a B! he actually had me excited about geology

Steve is the BEST! He is very helpful, lots of fun and gives you every opportuity to do well in the class. His tests aren't hard...they're THOROUGH!! Know your stuff and you'll do fine. Always fun field trips too!!!
