Ross is very passionate about the subject but unfortunately for him no one goes to class because he post the power points on moodle and makes study guides for the tests. Go to class when he returns quizzes and tests, that's when he takes attendance. Study the study guide for the tests and make sure your prepared for the essays,he grades them tough.

He goes into a lot of detail/talks a lot in his lectures, and doesn't let people take notes on their laptops. If I didn't sign up as a note taker for ODS, I wouldn't have survived. Doing the assigned reading every week is very important! There are weekly online quizzes based on textbook reading, & he puts questions from those quizzes on the exams.

Lectures are kinda hard to follow, mostly because it's hard to tell what the important parts are in terms of tests. Overall an average professor, average class, average test difficulty. The TA guest lectures were pretty interesting, but his weren't. He takes attendance by handing back tests, and occasionally just has you sign in.

Dr. Ross is amazing, one of my favorites. He posts all his lectures online and there's online quizzes every week. Great lectures but you probably should go to class b/c what he posts online is more like an outline. Tests are matching and multiple choice only from the online quizzes and essays. He gives you the essay questions before the test.

Dr. Ross really does want his students to learn. He is always more than willing to help. His tests are hard, but I felt that this class was pretty easy to pass with at least a B.

Do NOT take this professor. He is so hard and his lectures are difficult to follow. The readings assigned each week are long, and the textbook is not an easy read. The tests are hard. The only good thing about this class is that all the weekly quiz answers are online in quizlet and study blue, still it doesn't make up for the rest of this course.

Typical History class. He will hand back map quizzes and if you are not there to get it, you lose participation points, but it's only 10/10.

Class taken fall of 2014, no clicker questions, rarely took attendance, posted notes to moodle. You need the book to answer the online quizzes (only other points besides tests) and get key terms (definitions, dates, names, etc.) for tests. Most test questions come from online quizzes. He gives you possible essay questions before test.

I took him spring semester because everyone I knew that took him in the fall said it was so easy. Turns out he changed his whole curriculum adding clicker questions and more online work. essays on tests are graded very strictly. Even when I took notes they ended up being too complicated to understand by the end of the lecture. Good luck

He never truly goes along with his power points and becomes pretty confusing. He is a really cool and laid back guy though. Clicker quizzes for attendance happen in every class, sometimes more than once.

Dr. Ross is an AWESOME professor. Passionate about the class, knowledgeable, and really willing to go the extra mile to help out if you've got a problem/question. If you do the readings and go to his lectures, you shouldn't have a problem getting an A.

This was the best class I've ever taken (granted I'm a big history nerd). Dr. Ross is an excellent teacher, and didn't grade too hard on the essays. My writing isn't great so after every exam I thought that I failed, but I ended up making a solid A or B on each one. He also gives great lectures and has a good sense of humor.

This is for the age of alexander class. As long as you go to class and pay attention a c is guranteed. Excellent teacher. Really loves to lecture and is enthused about what he talks about. Put emphasis on a lot of his words to bring you out of your boring history stupor. Great guy. Great class. Take him.

He is funny and genuine. Usually assigns short essays but doesn't grade them too hard. IDs on tests are easy to recognize, but be sure to include lots (and lots!) of details, on IDs and essays, or he will count off. He has in-class debates, which are lots of fun. He can be monotone, but is intelligent and well worth listening to. Love his classes!

Ross speaks very quickly, and usually not on sync with his slides. His powerpoints are poorly organized and resemble one incredibly long sentence, making them very hard to follow if you've missed class. Weekly homework and the occasional in-class quiz.

Ross was kind and genuine. He really cares about what he's teaching and about student learning. He was always available outside class. His lectures can be boring and lengthy (he keeps you the full time), but he presents the material in an easily understandable way. You have to study for his tests, but if you attend class, they are pretty easy.

He is a good teacher. If you enjoy history you will find his class very easy. Its a lot of memorizing. His lectures are slow but he doesnt waste your time at all. If you simply reitirate the things he says in class on your tests you will get an "A". He does like the room VERY hot however.

He is a good teacher. Come to class and take good notes and you'll do well. Tests are essay tests (a lot of writing and basically write everything you can remember)I liked his class a lot and found it interesting
