Great man! His class is really interesting and tons of fun if you're with a good group of girls. He'll answer all your questions. If you go to class, then the papers are a breeze. (but VERY time consuming) He loves his job, students, family, and kids. He does a great job in making you feel like you know all you need to know about kids. Loved him!

Dr. Silvern is the best! The material that you learn in class is kind of difficult - but in the long run it really makes a lot of sense. He is very helpful when it comes to the Early Childhood Program! If you get him going there is no telling when he will stop!!!

Dr. silvern is an AMAZING teacher! He is somewhat hard to understand, and he is a little crazy, but he is so VERY passionate about children and education! I learned so much in his class, but you must attend class and pay attention. If you do not enjoy his class even a little bit then you might want to reconsider your major...

Dr. Silvern has good intentions, but as several people said...he is ALL over the place and very scatter brained!! He is very hard to understand and often gives unclear advise. Don't rely on him for anything. I don't even think he has ever taught young children in a public setting! His views are very different from the real world that I teach in!

This class was not THAT hard. Yes the information is difficult, but it is something that we need to know as educators. No one said stupid comments to pass, maybe they were just intellegent enough to know what was going on & actually pay attention. If you DON'T talk in class you can make an A. I did. Very Hard! All you do is write 4 papers in his class and you only get 100 points for the whole semester, which means your papers only count 25 points a piece. Doesnt make it easy to pass the class. You will only get a good grade if you talk in class and say stupid comments like most people did in my class.He's information is over everyones head!

I enjoyed having him as a professor!! He was very interesting and very helpful!! he is not my advisor but he worked on getting me in a class i really needed for a week and got me in!! I think he is a great teacher but he does really make you think! i got an A but i did have to work but it was not that hard!!!

Dr. Silvern is a great teacher! He is a very brilliant man and people who like to have thier work handed to them do not like them. This class is definitely a challenge and forces you to understand the material in order to get an A, which is very different from most classes where you can simply memorize it for the test. I have to agree that many of the statements posted about Dr. Silvern are true. However, most people don't understand the reason he teaches the way he does: he just wants to make people THINK for themselves! If you LISTEN to him and follow the outlines for the papers, you will be a "favorite."
