He is hilarious! Makes lecture so fun and engaging. I guess you could skip lectures but why would you!? He makes the material so easy to understand and likes to give group activities (for marks) in class to help us understand. I've had him for multiple classes and I wouldn't hesitate to have him again. Seriously a great prof and easy to talk to!

Really great professor, super nice guy and pretty funny too. Lectures can be a bit tedious because there is a lot to cover, but you get easy participation with clicker qs and the in-class activities. The exams were OK, nothing too hard, but studying can be a drag because there's a lot to read. No textbook though & his slides are pretty good.

Super nice prof and has very interesting lectures. His slides can be a little vague but as long as you memorize them, you'll do fine on the midterms. He sends out emails reminding you about the homework due that week. Overall a very enjoyable course.

Stuart is a great prof! I'm not super interested in Earth Science, but Stuart's sense of humour made me really enjoy the lectures and made the content interesting. His explanations were clear and easy to understand, and his tests are very fair as long as you study for them. I'd definitely recommend taking an intro EOSC course with him!

Hilarious, energetic teacher who's clear at getting his point across, and is willing to help if you need it. He likes to send out weekly emails reminding us of what we need to do the next week, and he makes it so that we don't have homework for reading week. He's also cognizant of student mental health - reminds us to take time for ourselves.

Very funny and interesting lecturer. Since it is an introductory course he wants to get students excited and interested in the course which is nice. Go to his lectures because a lot of the important things he says are not specifically mentioned in the slides. Easy exams as long as you studied a little.

Dr. Sutherland was a really great, entertaining prof in my opinion. His lectures were very thorough and though his tests may have been tough, I think that should be expected as it is a science course. There's a lot to understand, but if you read all the notes (there's a ton) then you really should be fine. I'd take any course with him again!

He's a nice guy and he's definitely engaging and knows what he's talking about, but the course itself is really dry. His tests are not easy. The midterms asked for the most obscure details from lectures that you would never even think to study.

He is a really knowledgeable and great prof, and it is evident through his lectures. The pace of the course is fast; he goes through a lot of material during class, but nothing too complicated. The only difficult thing about his course is that you must memorize every little spec of detail from his lecture slides (lots!) for the exams.

Really enthusiastic and funny. I don't see how anyone could dislike him. His rendition of Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' was a highlight for me this semester. I wish He could have taught more of my classes!

blah blah he is nice and whatever... i wonder what people are thinking of him now after the fnal.. plain mean and brutal on the final exam... i dont like him and wudnt recommend him
