Dr. Chung is a very hard teacher to take a class from, but if you put in the work, you will get the grade. You have a ton of reading. Textbook plus a 3 additional books. Your grade is simple, 6 page paper due by week 3 of class, term paper, midterm, final exam. Exams are based on lecture notes which you will take a lot of.

This is not an easy class, but she gives good guidance, and is nice. U must b very self-motivated for this class b/c it is mostly u doing research for over a month. Smaller assignment help balance out major paper. Hint: find primary source early b/c those can b really hard to find especially via inter-loans. Fairly flexible w/ due dates & grading.

This teacher is horrible! If you want carpal tunnel take her class! all she does is have you write non-stop notes, which makes no sense when you get home and re-read them. Plus she is unless to ask for help, because she thinks she's a wonderful teacher and the subject is easy. she exams are ridiculous! she excepts you to know everything!don't take

Although Asian history is not my favorite, I do appreciate her when she taught hist.451 and 251. When I had those classes, she was more flexible. However, she does not like to discuss the psychological aspects in chinese history that were the factors in coming into a revolution. As a future psychology grad student, I think Hist 455 could be better

She seems to be killing time in class. She made each student do at least 6 presentations and showed a lot of videos. She doesn’t seem to want to be there, so why should I. She is very honest, open and ready to help her students. She may be a hard grader, especially if it is a paper, but she pushes you to do the best. if you thourorughy do the readings and analyze the material, you will be on the right track. thanks.

She gave killer notes, but they were clear and extremely helpful. And whatever you didnt understand in class you could go over with your TA in the discussion groups. Workload was easy, I hardly ever read the books and still pulled an A on both exams. Shes looking more for you to be able to explain to her certain events, rather than memorize dates.

This class isn't that had, but there is sooooo much reading to do. She has like 4 books for the semester that you have to read. One, by Gjerde, is super boring and almost incomprehensible. She is kind of off, doesn't know how to work a computer....Discussion classes are useless. The 8-10 page paper was only worth 10 points.
