I got the impression that Surinder cares about his students. If you put in the effort and show some interest, Surinder will really do whatever he can to help you. The course was not easy -- if you want to do very well you will need to study and experiment with the language. Be mindful of instructions given, and pay attention to detail.

The class was pretty tough but Surinder will help you with tough material through office hours and extra review classes. If you would like a challenging class I would recommend this course. If you study hard and understand the material you will do fine! I would recommend Surinder as a professor and I would surely take another course with him.

Surinder is an excellent prof to have for 1520. If you want an A, you need to follow the directions to the letter. Surinder is very, very clear on his expectations and if you meet them, you will get an A. He won't hold your hand, but if you demonstrate to him that you're an interested and eager student, he will give you all the help you need.

Comment:

Professor is very helpful when it comes to assignments, exercises or midterms. He certainly have in-depth knowledge of the subject and he works really hard to make it easy and interesting to the students. I will highly recommend his course to other students who are eager to learn new stuff and are looking for higher level electives.

Avoid at all costs. Literally reads the textbook to us for every single class, I've heard he's a programming genius, but he doesn't really seem to know the content. I can count on one hand how many times he showed up to class on time, and he's rude to his students. Except for the girls.

Dr. S Dhanjal was very helpful in terms of assignments and study material in class, he has in dept knowledge of algorithm design and analysis. overall i will suggest my fellow students to take this course from him and he is very helpful if show him your learning.

The instructor was very helpful and very friendly. Whenever i had any confusion, i always visit his office for help without any hesitation. I have taken two courses i.e. COMP 3140 and COMP 3050 from him so far. If he would be teaching any course in future, i would take that course without any hesitation.

Overall I am pretty happy with the instructor, he is really cool and very helpful in terms of course study material and lectures. he have clear understanding of course content and he present it very nice manner. I am happy that I took his class and in future if he offer more courses I would love to take his class. I have taken comp 3410 and got B+.

While the content was often difficult, especially for someone with minimal experience in the subject, he managed to explain it with clarity and ease. Nothing was missed and I'm left with a strong background in the subject. My only advice is to attend every lecture and don't slack on the assignments or labs!

Tests are very long and he doesn't provide enough time to write them, he marks extremely hard, he is very unhelpful, and unless you are either a girl or are one of his top students he doesn't care about you or even know you exist. But I learnt a lot from this course.

During the class, learning the acronyms seemed bit tough but later on realized that they are helpful to remember.This course requires bit of extra time for assignments otherwise the exams usually comes from whatever is taught in class,so write down everything taught in class.

This guy is the most uninspiring professor I've met. Makes you memorize tons of acronyms and puts random ticks on your assignment to pretend he went through it. He obviously has no clue about the IT industry outside of academia. He can't teach and he's proud of it. So sad...
