I have a soft spot for Professor Morton - she's incredibly bright and passionate without being obnoxious like many professors in the history department. She is a kind person and makes exceptions for people who need them like myself. For that, I'm really grateful. Show up for class and don't procrastinate like I did!

Prof Morton knows her stuff and she wants to make sure that you learn a lot. She goes over a ton in class so be prepared to listen. Lots of readings and weekly assignments but the readings are very interesting and well picked. Helpful in office hours. She will push you to succeed but gives you all the tools to do so. Take if you enjoy history

Absolutely wonderful course and professor Not only is Professor Morton extremely knowledgeable about Canadian history, she is also beyond well-informed about the inner-workings of history as an academic discipline, and she generously shares this knowledge with her students to boot. The course expectations are clear and the assignments meaningful.

Teacher is not very helpful. She appears to be nice at the beginning, but as the course develops it's possible to see that she does not help the students

Morton is witty and sharp, gives lots of feedback to students, and knows what she's doing in terms of the material, the course, and dealing with students. I wouldn't change anything about this course or this professor. I highly recommend this class and prof!

Clever and witty. Manages to make Canadian history interesting. Probably the best survey course I've ever taken. Only drawback was the conference structure. She is not arrogant, nor does she have any problem with academic freedom. She pushes you to work hard and rewards you for it. And on a sidenote, her scarves are charming.

Intro to Canadian History. You will feel challenged, but produce work you can be proud of. I was disappointed that BC was left out of the course almost entirely, but the lectures were clear, concise, and consistently interesting. Be sure to get the Trudeau book beforehand because 500 pages is a lot of reading for one week.

I love this teacher! She is the sweetest prof I've ever met! Go talk to her during office hours because she is so helpful. At the beginning of the course the weekly readings seemed to be daunting but they really aren't that bad and don't count for much, so you really dont have to worry about them much. The lectures are incredibly interesting!

Prof Morton expects results. If you don?t want to work hard and produce work worth being proud of-don't take her class. If you want to be challenged and have quality work appreciated by a respected academic-take her class. Beyond her impressive knowledge and prowess as a lecturer she is kind-hearted and respects and supports individuality.

Professor Morton is an inspired lecturer and seminar leader. I had no previous interest in Canadian history and her classes changed everything for me. I've not met anyone at McGill who is as supportive + helpful as she is. These bad reviews can only have been written by lazy students- if you're willing to work, you'll get a lot out of her class.

had to drop this course, which was too bad because her lectures were actually interesting. had ridiculously high standards for WEEKLY reading assignments and admitted her "true or false" quizzes were objective and could be interpreted differently but nevertheless marked them according to her ideas. DONT TAKE HER IF YOU DONT HAVE TO

Great prof. Well-informed (and very informative), with well-structured courses to maximize the benefits of all elements (lectures, reading, conferences, term paper). Passionate, with no pretention.

Great prof. Very helpful, sincere, and informed. Workload could be heavy (ex. reading assignments every week) and lectures were sometimes crammed or ran over-time. Still, has great respect for the topic, is clear about expectations and is always willing to offer assistance to students.

I personally hated this class. She talks too fast and is not particularly interesting. And the weekly quizzes are seriously unnecessary. I couldn't even make it to the end.

Unlike some of you, I found that Morton was a fantastic prof. Her lectures were interesting and informative - easily the most approachable prof I had. And whoever said she was spreading "feminist propaganda" is an idiot - it's nice focusing on achievements of minorities and women for a change!
