Comment:

Sydney is very passionate about what she was teaching. Expect to read dense chapters weekly and take even more thorough notes. Class is spent reviewing the assigned chapter and sometimes gives pop quizzes. Mid terms and finals are essays and very long and require you to use your critical thinking skills. Have to work for the grade you want.

She is an amazing professor. She is very helpful and very passionate about her subject. She challenges you mentally so this class is not for people who are just trying to sleep. Very helpful, very knowledgeable. She makes you learn.

This teacher is horrible, she expects students to dedicate all their time with her work. I turned in all of my work before the actual due date and she always had something to say about the paper, even when the writing center had given the ok. There is no way of pleasing her and she grades unfairly. I suggest to stay away from her to save ur GPA.

This professor requires to really work hard on comprehending your reading. This is not an easy professor. You are require to do a lot of critical thinking. All the homework is basically reading and writing down notes, but it is not as easy as it may sound. I believe she makes the material more difficult to understand than it really is.

Ms. Hart is very unrealistic on her expectations for the student's understanding of the material. Eventhough there is no anthropology tutors, she will still expect you to walk away with a completely "insightful and nuanced" position on the material. I would recommend that any student in hopes of maintaining a high GPA steer clear of her courses.

There were three profs at NEIU sociology who really prepped me well for grad school, Betsy Sweet, Rohan de Silva and Sydney Hart. Of the three, Sydney was the nicest, but when I went back to thank them for my success all three were gone. The other profs I had were absolutely useless. I heard she got a better job, I hope that's true.

Sydney is an outstanding professor. Take her class if you want an education, rather than simply a credential. Sydney challenges you to think, ask good questions, and evaluate evidence. Whiners and slackers on this website represent the worst of the NEIU student body - they lack motivation and are in pursuit of mindless mediocrity.

This lady is the most asinine instructor I've ever had. She plays favorites with her students, but the worst part is, she comes to class in a sarcastic, short tempered mood and rambles on and on about how she grew up and her life now. Don't take this class with her unless you'd like to know her life story... and then some.

She is a decent teacher. She gives you a rubric for each paper, but grades them like an English teacher would. She goes into great depths about her personal life. She comes to class angry most of the time. She gives out the final at least 24 hours in advance. Most of all, she is a guy-basher. She does not like guys at all, and is clear about it.

I took professor Hart for sociology of Sexuality last year and was very intrigued early on by the interesting material and open forum structure. Yet I found the class slowly went astray as she began to force circle discussions that ended up becoming a free for all for people to express emotionally disturbing experiences or opinions.
