The class had potential to be very interesting, but unfortunately Franco didn't care much for the material she taught, and that really came through in the lectures. Class was boring and centered around names and dates. Midterm and final were easy, just a lot of memorization. The paper was not difficult in concept, but it was graded fairly harshly.

The class is quite unorganized. There is no sort of attendance policy, so a class of about 70 would only have 30 people or so on a daily basis. For exams, all slides are given on a review sheet before the test, so it isn't even really necessary to follow the material in class or do the suggested readings. The class is an easy A, but that's about al

she is not fun to listen to- but the good news is you don't have to. she gives you a list of every image on the test and tells you exactly what to study. so, go to class and get that list and you'll be okay. i went like 6 times all year and got an A.

Awful, she does not really explain much about the artistic techniques or symbolism. Lectures were soo boring too. She cares more about dates and memorizing the artists then knowing the works of art and what they stand for and represnt. Try and get someone else but if you get stuck with her it's not the end of the world just know every date.

She doesn't know anything. Honestly. Countless times she has said the wrong artist upon first showing a slide and students have had to correct her. She basically runs her laser pointer over the image and points out "the way the light falls on the face" or "look how he uses colors to represent emotion."

Great class and very interesting. Franco's teaching is great but she's very standoffish with her students. Not your best friend but a great professor.

I took african art with her and she was very excellent. Maybe a bit professional at times, but she knows her stuff.

Franco can seem rather cold and short with her students, but if you go to her for help she is very accommidating. She is straight forward and makes her expactations clear. LOTS of slides for the final, and they were rather hard to memorize.
