Taka is a really nice guy. Lingustics is boring and can be difficult to understand.Taka really does try to help his students understand, does everything he can to make sure everyone gets an A(tons of xtra credit possible). If you are struggling in the class- see him for extra help, you will understand when you leave his office.Extremely nice!!

Taka can be quite boring while teaching.... but he is one of the most helpful professors. He will spend lots of time to explain things that you dont understand. the material sucks and is boring, so i dont believe that any teahce could actually make it that interesting. Taka is great!

the first course I ever failed. I was never motivated to go. his teaching was boring. I had never fallen asleep in school before this class. terrible subject matter, and he just reads lecture notes. I hated every second of this class, which is a shame because I dont think he's a bad guy...

Taka is the best...he will spend the entire class making sure you understand the topics covered, and is willing to stray off topic as well...not to mention candy for holidays!

A good guy teaching a dull and uninteresting subject, better to separate the difficulty of linguistics from the man himself.

if you can't understand Taka, you must have language issues of your own. he tries very hard to be understood, and stands corrected when he makes mistakes. overall he's an enjoyable teacher, and knows his stuff.

Taka is one of the kindest men at UMass. Unfortunately, he is nearly impossible to understand. If you don't understand something, all he'll do is reiterate the way he described it the first time, in the little English that he knows. Can't articulate.
