Tanya is an amazing instructor! She is super passionate about literature, she can be a little bit of a hard marker but that's to be expected. A fast marker, you can literally expect to get your in-class back the next day. Take english with her, she's great.

Tanya is super passionate about english literature, knows her stuff and makes the 14th century literature we have to study fun to learn. She is a very fair marker, so long as you have insightful things to say and can back them up with the text. I was kinda scared to take this class, but Tanya keeps it chill. Take 2223 with Tanya!

Tanya is a pretty enjoyable professor. She's willing to go out of her way to help you with issues you are encountering. I would 100% recommend going to see her at her office hours because then she can give feedback based on you. Overall, if you put in the effort, she will help you to figure things out.

Tanya, is an amazing prof!! Yes she is a hard marker but honestly if you attend her lectures and take good notes you should be fine! She's very clear on what she wants from you and she legit marks you on that. USE HER OFFICE HOURS! she's so welcoming and such a sweet lady. She helps you so much during her office hours. I highly recommend her! 10/10

Tanyas great. Shes super nice and helpful. The reviews on here are harsh. Her class is a progressive one. If you visit her office hours, review the feedback shes given you and listen and attend lectures, youll do fine.

I enjoyed Tanya's class, she made an 8:30am class enjoyable! She is a wonderful teacher who you can tell genuinely cares for her students and loves teaching. Overall I had a really good experience talking her class, I really enjoyed the literature we studied in ENGL1129. Tanya is a hard marker, I had to work super hard for my grade.

Tanya is an extremely enthusiastic instructor whose passion for English literature is outwardly obvious. She made our 8:30 AM classes enjoyable; you can tell that she loves to teach. She scared me at first since many reviews say she is a very hard marker, but it's doable to get A's on the papers. It was a pleasure to have Tanya teach this course.

Took her English Lit. survey class. Great lecturer, awesome lectures. Knows her stuff & passionate about her subject. BUT. Plays favourites & picks targets. You'll know which camp you're in by how much time she gives doesn't give you both in class and in private. ICE cold if you're on her hitlist; don't expect to pass w A's. if at all.

First class in Langara - Lewis makes it very easy for you. She's very clear on her expectations for class and her lectures are informative also mixed with a bit of humour. She's very helpful and insists you go to her office hours if you need help. Although she's a tough grader, I would definitely take her class again in other English courses.

This was my first college English course and she made it very enjoyable. She is very helpful and gives good feedback. She is a hard marker but if you follow what she says it isn't too bad. She focuses a lot on grammar but it is very useful.

Tanya is VERY particular about attendance. Specifically, she has a 4-absence policy: get 4 absences and she will kick you out of the class. More than 30 mins late for class? Absent. Literary discussion is a big part of 1129, and she ignores late students' suggestions even when they are the only ones answering her questions. Picks depressing novels.

Comment:

Lewis introduced me to some of my favourite poetry ever. She taught me the Shakespearen sonnet and turned me on to the dark and deliciously disturbing genius of Sylvia Plath. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be able to recite the poem 'Daddy' by heart. One of my favourite professors.
