Professor Tarique is a very caring man, he is very sweet but his lectures are like watching paint dry. He emails you notes throughout the semester so going to class is pointless but he takes attendance every day. There are 3 exams and a term paper that determine your grade- no final.

This class's material is easy but the professor presents it is impossibly difficult. The professor requires memorization of facts instead of actual knowledge about a subject, and I felt myself knowing what the terms meant but in the test the multiple choices were about numbers. The professor also words their questions poorly without specification.

Whole class is based off of the study guides he emails to you, but being in class you will get examples that will be used on the test - GO TO CLASS. He does have a heavy accent and if I am being honest, I still can't quite understand it sometimes. Caring guy, but you have 3 tests and each test if 30% of your final grade. Good luck studying...

at first he was really hard to understand because of his accent but you get used to it. you can tell he is very passionate about soc by the way he talks about it. his lectures are super boring as he goes off on little tangents every class.

My favorite part about having Tarique was that you could tell how well someone did on a test. If someone does well he give you a handshake and says good job, if not he just gives you your exam. I always got that handshake.

I absolutely hated this class. It was 75 minutes of zoning out and trying to focus. He talks the entire 75 minutes and it gets so boring. The slides are long and filled. We have two tests and a paper that we are graded on. Participation is a huge part of the grade but we dont really have a chance to talk ever so its hard.

Hard to understand and talks in circles. He barely answers questions and somehow gets on topics that have nothing to do with what we're talking about in a way that makes no sense. He got through two bullet points in 40 minutes one class period and he just stood there and talked. It was so boring and I didn't get anything out of the class.

Very nice professor, sometimes he was hard to understand and can be a little forgetful. This class for 75 minutes long, which meant I was daydreaming a lot. The powerpoint he uses will also be sent to your email as printable slides, so there's really no point of copying it word for word. Tests a difficult, so make sure you read the chapters.

He is hard to understand at first but if you sit close enough it gets better. Your whole grade is 3 tests and 1 paper, the tests are very hard and confusing with how he words them. Seems like a nice guy but I honestly learned nothing and did not enjoy this class at all.

Hard to understand him, and when we asked him questions he would laugh as if we were stupid for not understanding him. He wouldn't answer the questions, but start talking about something else. Hard to understand the test questions as he articulates his sentences in a way that is hard to understand what kind of answer he is looking for..

I personally feel I did not gain much taking Social Problems with Dr. Niazi. I did not feel engaged - In part likely because it was a large class. I also was at a low point that semester, disengaged, and probably could've put more in. Yet, even so, I feel I would've found the class to have been lacking in substantive content.

His accent is very hard to understand. The accent is difficult. He doesn't answer questions with actual answers or clarify anything. I would not recommend this class to anyone.

He cares a lot about what he teaches but if you arent intersested in sociology some lectures can be very very boring. As the class went on I began to like it more though! He is foreign so in the beginning its sometimes hard to understand him but it got better. Your grade is made up of 3 tests and a paper. Never any additional homework.

It was very hard to understand Prof. Niazi. His exams are written with broken English and he is very unclear. I wouldn't recommend taking this class.

He's foreign so his test questions are really vague and unclear, so its hard to do well. I'm an A student and the best I could get on his tests are B's. Made it hard to get an A in the class because his only grades are the 3 exams. Plus a term paper, which was easy to get an A on. Is relatively caring for students but depends a lot on attendance.

The class graded is determined by 4 things. Those are the 3 main exams and 1 term paper. If you do not pay attention to his loooong boring lectures, you will not do well. I recommend reading the book to understand everything more. He has a thick accent so he can be hard to understand at first but you get more used to it as the semester goes on.

If you would like to take a class where you read the book, fill out questions clearly defined and answered from the book, then spend the entire class regurgitating the information you already learned, this is the class for you. If you don't care about gaining knowledge on the subject but would like an easy A, Niazi is the man for you.

I couldn't understand a word that he said the entire semester and trying to decipher what he was saying all the time ended up hurting my grade in the end. The material was not difficult by any means but because of the language barrier his tests were worded incredibly odd. If you have to take this class take with a better prof on RateMyProfessor
