Great for LLP - does his best to liven up the frequently dry material. Also seemed good at coaching a bunch of wide-eyed first years through their first batch of exams. His jokes don't always land, but I mean he's a law prof, not a standup comedian. Downside - fully indecipherable exam rubric feedback

Entertaining but focused on the topic, I left his classes feeling that I learned things while in them, a rare experience in law school! His evidence-based approach to international law is a far better one than the ideological, wistful thinking that permeates many other UVic profs.

Comment:

I appreciate his use of the Socratic method but found him inaccessible. He canceled a number of classes to attend conferences,and failed to make up the time efficiently.Provided very little feedback regarding midterms and no opportunity to apply knowledge of material post-midterm, which was crucial considering the complexity of material covered.

McDorman is an exceptional prof. Funny. Knowledgeable. Willing to use the Socratic style at times. Blunt. With a sharp intellect. Honest. Direct. Take his classes - you'll remember him for the rest of your life.

Ted is an expert on IL and Oceans Law. His bluntness and conservative but rational outlook are a refreshing break from the norm at UVic. Marks tend to be low. Classes are more about current politcal events than substantive law. I'd recommend him.

1) his classes lacked structure 2) full of anecdotes/ low on substantive information 3)was usually ill prepared for class 4) waffled for 3/4 of the semester, then taught last 1/4 as if on some type of amphetamine (a.k.a. pacing was crap). 5) course materials were poor 6) overall would advise against taking this class/ "professor".

Any guy who wears a Twins cap and bangs a cookie tin in class can't be all bad. Great offbeat sense of humour. You may not get a stellar grade but if you can handle that then for God's sake take his class. This is a prof you'll remember, and not only for the pet names he gives to House of Lords poobahs.

Very knowledgeable. Interesting, well organized lectures. Conservative. Takes a classical approach to international law. Fair exams, but marks tend to be low despite bonus points he gives. Approachable but blunt. If you want "nice," he ain't your man. If you want to learn, take his courses.

Teddy boy - one of the few profs. in law school with a personality greater then a walnut. Love him or hate him, no in between. Great guy if you have a personality to (aka. tax lawyers avoid at all costs)
