Comment:

She is very caring about her students and understands that we all have lots of work in other classes. There is a lot of reading, but if you don't understand it she is more than willing to explain. She seems like she is a really tough grader, but as long as you are willing to put in the work she is fair, and provides lots of feedback.

Comment:

Theresa was the most nurturing professor I have had. She's an extremely kind woman who puts a lot of effort into helping students think critically about text. The way she approaches text is quite abstract, which can be frustrating, but also liberating, in that you in turn have a lot of utility to analyze texts as you think they should be read

Teresa Zackodnik is amazing. She really inspired me to do my best and I really enjoyed her class. You need to participate to do well in this class -- but she will never make you feel bad or belittle you if you happen to add or express something that may be off the mark. This class was very difficult but so rewarding!

Very unorganized, very controlling, hard to follow, does not actually listen to student questions and answers the questions she WANTS to answer, regularly shuts down student contributions. Very unhelpful. She'd probably be fine in a 100 or 200 level class but if you're in your 300/400s don't bother.

Teresa's a fantastic prof!! Do not take her classes if you want easy marks, but if you want to be challenged to become more of a complex thinker, I'd highly recommend her class. As long as you're actively involved in class discussion, you will not be left behind. She's the best prof I've had at the u.

I really didn't enjoy a single text that we read and discussions were guided too strictly. It was hard to take notes and she doesn't project when she speaks. She's very friendly and intelligent, but this just wasn't for me.

I took minority american lit with her, and we read many slave narratives, and works that applied to the genre such as "Beloved", "The Color Purple", and "Corregidora". As a prof she is very intelligent but I found her class discussions all over the place and very difficult to take good notes in. She is very helpful but you need to know your stuff.

Don't let the other comments on here fool you--Teresa is a great professor. She is always welcoming of contributions to class discussions and helpfully steers your thoughts in useful directions. I would recommend her classes to anyone looking for a highly intellectual and considerate professor.

She's redundant, uninterested in your actual opinions (as long as you agree with her, smooth sailing), she's pretentious and uptight. Urg, stay away my friends. I AGREE WITH ALL NEGATIVE OPINIONS EXPRESSED ABOUT THIS "PROFESSOR!" Very condescending, closed-minded, and uptight professor in the history of all english classes I have ever taken! I disagree with every bad rating of this prof. she is one of the best i've had. If you can back up your opinion, all types of thoughts are welcome. She is a very hard marker who will help turn you a better student, but you have to be willing to work for it. There are no easy marks in her class. Recommended for those looking to challenge themself.
