Teri is amazing. She's funny and holds your attention through the lecture even though otherwise I would have no interest whatsoever in nonwestern art. Her midterms/final are very straightforward and she lets you know the exact format. Highly recommended!

Her lectures are difficult to keep up with. She talks fast and never pauses. Tests are hard-- you must know the map of Africa and locate 30 different tribes, rivers, etc. All test questions are essay, and each is over a page each in length. She's also emotional, and gots mad at students very easily. There's no textbook, so you can't miss lecture.

I love this teacher!Very nice and interested w/ students success in class Lectures are VERY interesting, she talks fast so I recommend recording her lectures,helps a lot since there is no book.Took about 8 pgs of notes/class. 1 midterm, 1 final, and a 8-10 page paper. tests are essay only (10?s) and gives 20?s in advance to study. Office hrs help!!

Teri lets you know how much she expects out of you. You're going to take a lot of notes but the lectures are far from boring. We had a midterm, final, and an 8 page paper. The midterm and final consist of around 8-10 questions she gives you in advance but must be answered in good detail. Teri is such a sweetheart and a great teacher at SDSU.

I was really excited and interested in this class. I learned all about hula and most of Oceania in this class. She was a very tough grader on the final but not on the mid term (i don't know why?). advice: do the extra credit-it's easy!! good luck.

She is extremely difficult, she expects you to know EVERYTHING she says, and talks way to fast. test are very hard. Study questions very general and require pages of information. Don't take this class unless you have a great memory. I was interested in the subject, but not anymore!

Great professor. She has taken the time to talk to me about my career and given such good advice! No one else at SDSU has helped me as much as she has. She has also singlehandedly passed on to me the craft of writing. She even helped me publish! Highly unusual in the field of professors. What a jewel. I am lucky to know her...

Worst way to give tests! Talks way too fast in lecture. Expects too much on test, and doesn't give study guides. I have had plenty of art history classes and so far this was the worst! Expects you to know a lot about the geography and yet doesn't spend very much time talking about it.

awesome teacher, very smart. INtroduces a different way of looking at things. She helps to broaden your horizons and understand cultures through thier eyes, she is in no way easy but you'll come out of the experience much more cultured.

excellent class on african art. she also teaches oceanic art, but the african was more dynamic. you can ace this class by attending every class and making flash cards. she emphasizes teaching what the art meant to the people who made it, rather than the western perspective.

Great class! She's my favorite teacher at State, although I'm sure many would disagree with me. She's funny and very interesting. Pay attention in class and take Excellent notes! Talks really fast. She is very demanding on tests;and I have taken many Art History classes.Your tests will be graded on what kind of mood she is in while correcting it and she is no help with advice on improving your grade. If you want to take 2 tests on a semester's length of material,then good luck my friend!

WORST way to give tests- must write at speed of light, have no time to think. Grading is hot and cold. Cool class. Lectures are fast, but I learned alot just couldn't prove it in tests- lots of essays, not enough time. Her personal bias gets annoying. Pretty stuck in her ways- not flexible.

Great class. Refreshing perspective on the arts & craftsmanship. Get a recorder for this class and take notes like crazy. Essay tests are tough. Study your notes & review lectures. All in all, very worthwhile and interesting class. Grades fairly.
