Be warned. She told us to write how we talk, and then marked us down for it. She would compliment something in one draft and criticize it in the next, making the rough drafts meaningless. She would mark you down for using made-up words, even if the words were in the OED. Some average students got easy As, while some A students struggled to get Bs.

Tough I mean really tough grader, one of the worst professors I had in all of my 3 years in CSUN. I would not recommend her class for my worst enemy.

We had four major essays to write with about three minor essays. Reading is essential for the occasional pop quiz as well as group participation. Does peer editing workshops for every major essay which is very helpful. Fast-paced class. Keep on top of the work and you'll be good.

Extremely hard grader. If you're often wordy with your writing then she'll lower your essay grades because it's too wordy. She often corrects your papers one way and then corrects it back to the way you had it written in the first place. Absolutely awful woman, tries to be funny but comes off as annoying. TAKE ANYONE ELSE!

The professor is really strict when it comes to the class behavior. She doesn't let you step outside to go to the restroom or anything. You cannot be late at all. Very critical when it comes to grading papers. Most of the class didn't like her but we learned to tolerate her. She knows her stuff though.

This class you can actually bond with the classmates because of the mandatory lab. You can engage with this class and improve your english skills along with having to turn in at least four essays. The work at some point is stressful but do not turn it in late. You must also read and ANNOTATE!!There is no mid term but a final essay

Not the greatest, heavy work load, you really need to EARN the grade, but it's far too much work for a Genderal Ed. Otherwise she's nice, and you don't do much in class.

She is a really tuff grader, but if you are willing to work she will give you a fair grade. Very nice woman, just not piss her off. Cares a little too much about her students. Overall a great teacher. Highly recommend her.

Chillax lady, but attendance is mandatory. Try not to be late. Turn in all drafts on time and make sure to use the suggestions she makes on your essays. Only reads the first paragraph of your drafts; but is a meticulous grader. Will give you better grade as long as you make apparent corrections. Responds to emails fairly quickly.

Very laid-back person. Attendance is a must. Don't be late. She's a meticulous grader, but only reads the first paragraph of all your drafts. Just make sure to do all the assignments, PARTICIPATE in everything, and she'll definitely give you the higher grade if you're borderline.

Prof Silverberg is actually a pretty nice person. Just follow her deadlines for the essay drafts and her suggestions on your drafts and you'll be fine. Be aware that she sometimes omits assignment details though, so over-prepare or email her if you feel like you're struggling.

This semester I had to teach this woman how to use a semi colon. That should not happen with someone who teaches English at this level. She is not fit to be teaching. She's not even a nice person. She's ugly on the inside, and it shows in the classroom.

I don?t quite understand the last review. I had the same class same semester with the opposite experience. This was one of the most amazing classes I have had. If you don?t do your readings or give adequate time to your papers, you will not perform well. Course was exceptional. Highly recommend.

This entire semester has been a nightmare due to Silverberg's inability to organize, keep to a syllabus, or grade to any recognizable standard. The entire class got a "C" on the last paper, and when questioned, she said she wanted to motivate us to revise. Grades seem based on her personal preferences. Class is meeting w/ dept. head next week.

Great professor. The class is difficult because it requires three research papers, but she breaks down the workload. If you stay on top of each individual deadline you will be fine. She is also very helpful and friendly in office hours.
