Easily one of the worst classes I took at Nipissing University. He picks favourites, if you're on his good side then you'll do fine but if not it will be difficult to get good marks. He didn't like when Native people gave their opinion from prior knowledge. I would advice people to never take a class from him.

One of the best profs at Nip, he was very nice, laid back and it was a joy to be in his class. He made the class very enjoyable with all his stories the veered off topic and objects from the native culture. He is a fair teacher and if you go to class listen and participate, you will do just fine because I know I did.

I got the strong impression that he didn't think I belonged in the class, being non-native. I felt very unwelcome, and regretted taking the course.

Comment:
He brings an interesting approach to Native Studies, but I'm finding it very hard to maintain a decent average since I have no connection to anyone who is of a First Nation. It's easier to complete his assignments if you know someone of an Aboriginal descent. He rarely uses textbooks,it's a money waste.

I took his native history and native studies classes and loved every minute of the class. So much so, that I am not teaching the high school equivalent. Terry, I used the textbooks and my notes on a daily basis! Thanks.

honestly, if you don't agree with his views or line of reasoning either keep your mouth shut or don't take the course....because it will affect your mark. i agree with the favouritism comments. the measure of a good person should always be based on how they treat everyone around them, not just you.

Terry's one of the best profs at Nip. One of the few who actually know/have experience in what he's teaching! He doesn't play favorites, I don't know where people get that from? He gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and makes himself very available outside of the classroom. One of the few profs you can have a normal conversation with.

One of the best professors i've ever had. FYI grades are based on performance, not on favourtism (he didn't know my name last year and I still got 89% overall). Very knowledgeable and always available for help after class which is a big bonus. Most importantly he is a very sincere, warm and kind man. Shame on you people who talk negatively of him.

I am really enjoying his first year class. he is very proud of his heritage and that is refreshing. he provides up to date material, and likes to show videos. He is also a good and fair marker if you put the effort into the work.

According to this professor, academic performance is NOT about ability, intelligence or effort...It's about who you are and who you know. This professor has NO integrety.

Nice guy, not to good a prof. Plays favorites, it is evident in his marking. Interesting course material, if you like to watch movies he shows a lot of them.
