TR is such a sweetie. You'll have no clue what he's talking about during class, as he often goes off on tangents about the tobacco industry or heart health, but it doesn't matter. You'll need to take notes on the textbook readings in order to do well on the tests but that's it. You'll go to class because you want to, because he's such a riot.

I'm not much of a science person but TR's class is so easy to understand. The tests and assignments are all pretty easy, and TR is very prompt in answering his emails. He's also the sweetest old man you will ever meet it's so interesting to hear him talk. If you get the opportunity absolutely take his class you won't regret it!

Must go to lectures b/c he gives graded in class work but the lectures themselves aren't that important. Tests are open notes. Reading and taking notes on the reading is ESSENTIAL. He posts test topic questions online. Write them out, answer them, and use them on the test. I used a book from 3 editions back and it worked fine and was $15.

Mr. Richardson is a great guy. Keeps class engaged and is really funny. The workload for the class is minimal, so far we've only had 2 homework assignments. There's 5 tests, and they are all open notebooknotespackets so if you don't do well on the tests its your fault. Out of those 5 tests 1 of them is take home and he drops your lowest test grde

I'm currently taking Honors Astronomy with Richardson. He's by far my favorite teacher and is extremely well-liked by every student he has. All of his tests are open-note and he curves them too. Lectures are boring and pointless, but he's a very kind person who genuinely cares about his students. I definitely recommend!!!!

Great guy and always happy to help his students! Tests as easy as you could hope for a physic class...online hw, 4 tests, and a final...drops lowest test. always happy to have students drop by the office to chat about physics or anything else...TR is great!

TR is the single best faculty connection I've made since I've been at CofC. He really does take an interest in his students and will go out of his way to help you. It is true he isn't always crystal clear in his explanations; he is really at his best during demonstrations and experiments. He makes you think.

TR is one of the best teachers I have had. His lectures are a bit sporadic and can get off topic but he is a great guy and really cares about his students. If you are planning on taking astronomy I highly recommend TR. If you choose not to read you can definitely get by with a B, if you read you'll definitely get an A. Tests are open notes.

TR is a very funny guy that loves what he teaches. And he wants his students to enjoy it, too. He tells funny stories and shows cool demonstrations. But he doesn't teach well at all. Go to his office for homework, that helps a lot. I wouldn't take him again - he just doesn't explain anything.

Don't be frightened if TR already knows who you are on the first day of class. He's just like that... extremely personable. His class is very interactive and full of discussion and experiments. His stories sometimes get old (he likes to talk about himself) BUT he's a truly genuine guy. He's very helpful and gives good feedback. Fairly easy class.

I absolutely love this professor. Yes his test may be hard, but only at first. He helps you and makes sure you understand if you are having trouble. If he sees you are working hard, or if you are having a difficult time, he will help your grade out. Great teacher!

hes a great guy, but i dreaded going to class. i didnt learn anything from his lecture, but luckily none of it was on tests. everythign came from the book, most of which was open book/notes. im not a science person, so i just didnt like the class. hes a great guy tho
