He's a good professor, wants us to become better writers. He's encouraging/open-minded. There were five papers (essays) which our grade is based on. There are also a bunch of in class assignments :/ which don't count that much. I don't think you get credit.

every day there's something to do in this class, so skipping is not an option. there is a lot of writing happening every week and even during class so get ready for that. he's really nice, understanding, and lenient. i feel like my writing has improved in the class which just shows what a good teacher he is. get ready for a lot of work.

Professor Foy gives very good feedback on your papers, and is a very fair grader. You always have a chance to revise major papers. There is usually a paper due almost every week, and get ready to write quite a bit. Nothing unusual for a college English class. Participate in class and try your hardest.

He's a really nice guy and the class really isn't that bad there is just sooooo may assignments. It is a lot of busy work but the amount of assignments is not convenient at all. If you can tolerate the work though, he's a really nice teacher and he's passionate about his job. Attendance matters.

Best decision ever. I thought i was terrible at writing papers until i got to Foy. I got an A- and above on every paper. He has us read some odd books, but they are not difficult at all. We have a lot of essays in the class but he is for sure the best honors comp teacher to take(better than Rohan)

If you don't like listening to a man talk about the Lord of the Rings series for an hour and fifteen minutes twice a week, don't take comp 220 with Foy.. It's hard to sit through and listen to songs and watch clips about it when you aren't as into it as he is. There is little to no relevance of it at all and he spends no time on actual work.

Fair grader but pretty boring. I think he talked too much and over explained. Overall it was a good class. Pretty easy, but there are a good number of assignments - one right after the other. There was a lot of in class writing too. Outside of class there were four essays and six minor assignments.

Prof Foy is a great English teacher. He provides plenty of extra credit opportunities and they are pretty easy to earn full points. Some of his essay's do take a bit of time, but nothing unmanageable. Very easy going guy, I would defiantly recommend him to a friend.

Love Prof Foy! There's purpose with every assignment and while the class required a good amount of effort, he managed to make the time spent for it lighthearted, fun, and engaging. Very willing to help if you visit after class or at his office hours.

I came into class expecting for a great professor from reading prior reviews. Unfortunately, Foy had no clue what he was doing the entire semester. He often changed due dates and assignments and only used one of the assigned texts. He was very confusing and vague when explaining assignments. I would try to avoid taking this professor at all costs.

Extremely intelligent person, and very knowledgeable. He cares about his students, tries to teach at everybody's level, and encourages dialogue. It was the least easy of my As, but the material he used was so thought provoking, it was worth all my efforts. He is a great Teacher and an applied idealist and I respect him a lot.

One of the best and easiest professors I have ever had! He is an extremely helpful and intelligent person, and getting less than an A in his class is nearly impossible. Just show up to class every week, do your writing assignments, and read the chapters of the book whenever he calls for it and you'll definitely get an A. I would recommend him 100%!
