It takes a lot for me to say I don't like a professor, but I really did not enjoy this class at all. It's an understatement to say his lectures are boring. He has more knowledge about televsion than anyone I've ever met, but only from the book. Not much hands-on...except for the practicals. Quiz every week and if you're late you get a zero

Great class, I look forward to taking him again for TV2. Explains the stuff well, tests are fair, wants students to learn stuff and do well. Grades fairly, just read the text, do what you have to do, and you'll do well. Class was very hands-on, I liked that.

You learn the technical stuff about the studio equipment, and are tested on hands-on knowledge as well as book knowledge. Written tests can be a bit tough, weekly quizzes not hard if you take the right notes-you can bring them into the quiz. I'd take him again for TV3.

During my 4 year duration as a student in SJU, I have had many professors who were approachable and helpful, Professor Caputi was certainly not one of them. His teaching style is very unclear, his lectures along with his class activities were very boring making you want to drink a gallon of coffee before coming to his class.

Now an alumni, I can give 3 bits of constructive criticism: 1) this business is based on RELATIONSHIPS, not texbooks. 2) Television is the most fluid medium in terms of production methodology, you are out of date from word one. Teach 'why' as much as 'how.' 3) Learn to improvise.
