This teacher is great. Knows the subject and really is available to help students. Class presentation is well done. Accounting is difficult, he does an excellent job of explaining the subject. If you listen carefully you can learn from classes and his business experience. Make sure you do practice online quizzes prior to tests.

Pike is definitely the best out of the accounting teachers. the tests are easy as long as you have a pretty good understanding of the material, and he doesnt give daily graded homework like a lot of the other teachers do for this class. he tells a lot of stories that relate the material to real life and prepare you for the business world.

good prof, if you can stay awake. i pull his powerpoints off of blackboard and reread in order to figure it out. accounting is boring and he doesnt really interact with the class so it is hard to stay up and pay attention. tests aren't horrible, just do the online practice quizes and you will be ok.

Pike isn't too bad. He tells a lot of stories, some are relevant, others are pointless. Go to class, listen and take notes. Study the powerpoints for the tests and you will be fine. If you got into JMU, you should be able to get at least a "B".

pike is the man. Acc is hard but pike is the easiest teacher out there. Multiple choice tests and easy points like showing up to class. Its a hard class but i got a B in it so anyone can. he teaches his students about the real world and exactly what to expect on his tests. Just do the practice tests online and you will be fine. Great Guy

I found accounting boring, but with Pike's cheesy stories the class was bearable considering attendance was taken for points. Doesn't really teach but the power points and book are clear.Tests are not bad considering they are mostly multiple choice sometimes with a fill in the blank section and he curves.Many gimme pts. I was ecstatic to get a C.

Pike is not that bad... his students historically bomb the final despite his efforts. Average this year was a 71 on the final. Very few students get A's, but B's are realistic. Most don't like his teaching styles, and he tells stories just about every class that most people find boring. Take him and you'll probably do less work than other teachers

My only A this semester going into the final. I thought I would hate accounting, but I really understood it from the practicals and really cheesy examples. Sit up front and make sure he learns your name, he is super helpful whenever you need it.

Really don't understand his rating on here. Class is an easy B and an A is very achievable. No, he doesn't really teach, but his tests are very straightforward. I've put in little effort and have a solid B. Can miss 3 classes.

He can't teach amd all he does is talk about himself (yay, fun) -- I was an accounting major before i took his class, and i had to drop it because I was 1 point away from getting a B-, and he still gave me a C+. Find another professor :)

So far I don't think he has actually 'taught' us anything. He fills the class period or even makes us stay after just to listen to stories about himself. some are interesting, some are ridiculously off subject and most are just a waste of time. I had to teach myself everythign for the exams. tests arent really hard. and grades papers pretty easy

Gets a bad rating because of the subject, its accounting and no matter who you take, you're gonna have to learn it by doing it, and it is gonna be boring. He lets you work in groups and tells you exactly how many questions in each topic are going to be on the tests. Tests are 20% matching, so those should be free points.

don't take him if you except him to actually "TEACH" you, you have to teach yourself pretty much everything , he just tell you where the material is then you pretty much have to teach yourself, he spends most of the class period telling you the same old boring accounting stories over and over but he does tells you whats on the quizzes and tests.

Professor Pike isn't horrible. Although you will be teaching almost everything to yourself he gives practicals to help boost your grade. First few test he tells you what is going to be on it. Stay ahead in the class and you will be fine.

He is THE WORST professor I have ever had.He has yet to "teach" us anything, I have taught everything to myself.His test have hardly nothing to do with material discussed in class.His powerpoints are the examples from the book and he doesn't even explain them, and he is monotoned and boring.Take him if you enjoy listening to his gay ass stories.

I like the way he teaches it is very straight foward. He posts powerpoints before class. He does not collect/check homework daily! He posts the solutions to the homework on Blackboard, which you can use to learn how to do problems. There are 6 graded assignments, 4 tests, a few quizzes,1 easy group project. I recommend him!

Easy easy teacher! Haven't read the book and i have an A in the class. Go to class, listen to his examples and study the practical answers he gives you. Pike tells you what will be on the tests and quizzes, gives you easy homework assignments to boost your grade and will even give you answers on tests and homework if you ask him.

He is a horrible teacher with a bad attitude. His tests are pretty easy though, just read the text book. I have a high B in his class, but I have taught it ALL myself. He is NOT helpfull in office hours...he just sits there staring at you.
