A great teacher! He comes across as gruff at times but he's very passionate about what he does. If you're looking for an easy grade or prefer to screw off in class, take something else. He lectures almost exclusively so take good notes and get involved in the Q&A. His lecture on the Opium Wars was amazing. Hope he is still teaching!

He comes of as kind of an arrogant guy, but I think he's actually a nice person if you speak to him one on one. As far as the class goes, he expects a lot from you. There are hmwrks that must be in on time and are worth a large % of final grade. Tests are hard, but passable. He's also very opinionated and talks down to students occasionaly.

Mr.R is a wonderful person! At first he is a little hard to understand but once you get to know him he is really nice. He gives you the anwser to every test& final right on a hand out weeks prior to the actuall test. If you study that you will do fine. He does go off subject a lot but if you listen closely you will understand. Great guy!
