I enjoyed his class and think he is a good teacher. In the honors class all the tests are essay based and he expects you to cover a lot in your response that goes more in depth than the question may say. Also the two papers we wrote had no clear rubric so that was a little difficult. Overall he was good and respected others opinions.

I loved Dr. Knapp's honors sociology class, it was enlightening and I would definitely take another class taught by him. Most of lecture was group discussion.

I loved professor Knapp's class. He is very direct with what he wants and expects! Listen and you will pass. He is very humorous, and kind, and has a great attendance policy ( don't skip )! Overall the class wasn't too hard, if anything some may not enjoy the reading, but the book is a pretty easy read. Hope this helps! I recommend him highly!

Lectures are boring, he just gives you the assignment before he really explains it, then spends the next few classes talking about what you need to do for the assignment after you've already started. Very nice guy and willing to help. Just not the most fun to listen to.

Dr. Knapp has been my favorite professor so far. His tests are strictly essays, and you never know what questions he will be asking, so you have to study everything. Lectures are class discussions that are student led, and he gives a few important notes in-between. Not a whole lot of reading involved. What he says will be on the test, so listen!

Good professor, but requires a lot of work for just a Gen ed class. Luckily, he is a pretty easy grader on both essays and tests. There are three of each through out the semester. The class was discussion based and could be incredibly boring depending on the material covered that day. Only 6 grades and no extra credit so you can't bomb anything.

Great guy. Smart, passionate, and really wants students to adapt a more aware mindset throughout the semester. That said, much of the lectures were quite dull, and he wanted discussion when there wasn't always much to discuss. Three fairly difficult tests all year (essay-format), and three essays. Read the chapters and study a lot.

Dr. Knapp's classes are extremely hard, but he's so nice and so willing to help! The work you go through helps to prepare you for the tests. It's also all very interesting. He's the best professor I've had at MSU and I've taken all the classes he teaches because he's such an excellent instructor.

I did NOT enjoy this class. I am an Honors Student dedicated to my studies. I thought the class was pointless and I could have just read the book rather than going to class. He was too hard, and I did not learn very much from him at all. I still ended up with an A so I guess if you do the work you will get the grade.

Unconventional text book is interesting enough. Reads like fiction. Class discussion takes up a lot of time. Lots of videos. Tests are four 1 page essays. Essays have to be specific, including percentages. One 11 pg paper. Will take again.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of this class because it was straight lecture - no powerpoint, no writing on the board, no nothing. Our only grades were essay tests and two papers, so if you didn't do well on those you were screwed. But, if you miss less than 3 classes you don't have to take the final and he's very lenient with excused absences.

I couldn't get enough of this class. I only missed one class period, and was sad about it the whole day. His lectures are crystal-clear, but not dumbed down. I liked that the tests were all essay format, so as long as you grasped the content, you could get a good grade. As a sociology minor, I'm hoping to take another one of his classes soon.

Dr. Knapp is a great teacher and definitely challenges his students. There are 2 projects throughout the semester, and 3 essay tests. He also gives essay quizzes over the readings that are timed, but if you make notes over the reading, you'll do fine. I definitely recommend him as a teacher.

Dr. Knapp is a pretty good teacher, but if you've had any sort of statistics class before his, it gets pretty boring. Make SURE you do the readings for the quizzes, there is NO WAY you can pass them without reading. Studying for tests is extremely important as well.

Favorite teacher/class I had at MSU. Had NO interest in the class prior to taking it, but ended up loving it. Definitely utilizes the textbook, but shows videos/articles. MUST GO TO CLASS TO PASS. But no reason to skip, because it's fun. Didn't get an A, even though I completed all assignments/tests, studied, and read the book- tough grader.

Dr. Knapp was really great. I learned a lot in this class. The difficulty is medium, just be prepared to do a good amount of work if you take it Honors. There is a 7-page paper, but I didn't find it too hard to write in the end. The worst part of the class were the essay tests. The questions are not hard, there is just not a lot of time.

Real nice guy and very helpful, but the class is a semester-long struggle. I've never studied so hard for a class before in my life. His tests & quizes are all essay and he has two major projects due throughout the semester. I learned a lot, but wouldn't take him again.

Very good teacher. He is very helpful. Stay on track with his schedule and the final project shouldn't be a problem. The only bad thing with the class is that the tests are all essay.

Dr. Knapp is interesting, helpful, and the class is relatively easy. READ the book, don't miss class, there's lots of quizzes, and essay style writing. My only complaint is after missing 1 class, and being 3pts away from an A, having an 89.4, i STILL got a B, which is a little harsh.
