Comment:

Good professor but quirky. He will not let you use powerpoint to do a presentation, ELMO instead. The term paper is big but he gives you so much room for extra credit on exams. Just study and read the instructions for all assignments! Buy the book, there is a take home exam.

This class wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. Lectures got boring but he would sometimes tell stories to liven it up. Tests could be challenging but at lot of students did well on his essay if they put in effort.

I took human bio with Ladd. The course has 5 exams, a presentation, and a massive term paper. Exams are a breeze if you study, but if you fail to study prepare to fail because there is barely any multiple choice. The term paper was the worst. It's 3000 words on 3 different microbes. Start early. I wish he gave more time to ask questions.

Had no idea what prof was talking about 25 to 50 percent of the time, but he sure was nice and has a deep understanding of the subject. Seemed the content was delivered in a manner that req'd much memorization and not enough understanding of concepts, which made quizzes and exams difficult. I was really hoping to learn a lot more in this class.

He is a cool professor. If you listen to his lectures and take notes you should do well in his course. Make sure to study for the exams using his partial review sheets. Also know lab techniques for exams. I recommend him.

This guy knows what he is talking about, he knows so much that he gives a lot of needless information. He is the king of fair warnings and he is one of the most fair professors i have ever had. A's are def. possible the course is challenging but not impossible. Enjoy the class because he really tries to make it enjoyable.

Dr. Ladd is probably one of my favorite bio profs. I've take immuno and micro with him. He is really nice and helpful and will let you take tests later if you explain your situation. He believes on not testing on everything and gives tons of choices and extra credit. The material itself isn't easy but he is great! Do take him if you get the chance!

Dr Ladd is one my fav professors here at Millersville and I am not a science major. He is very helpful and nice. Test are kind of hard but if you study and know some of the stuff he gives you choices of what to answer. This was a great class!

I've never enjoyed biology so much, Professor Ladd...man I wish he was my grandfather! But really if you study his tests are easy, and exactly what he tells you they are going to be. He gives tons of extra credit so take advantage of it. Grades easy and is so enjoyable to listen to. I LOVE THIS MAN, he is indeed the BOMB!!

If you don't take professor Ladd for a bio class you are missing out. I hate biology, but I always looked forward to class with him. His tests are what they should be straight forward. He is just so awesome....really need to take him, you really don't need the book only for take home. He is understanding and offers bonus on all tests HES THE BOMB

The class is interesting and for the most part easy if you keep up with what you are learning. Most lectures are in powerpoint form, I suggest you begin reviewing the slides for tests a week ahead of time. Lab was easy, not very difficult. "Hardest part" of the class was the final, he made you use what you learned thru the semester and apply it.

Pretty good prof..speaks about the health of himself, wife, sister and cat lol..which tends to be pretty funny but sometimes just disturbing..i didnt buy the book and still got an A..you just have to know the terms well (flash cards!!)..for take home test i used internet and cited at the end..

I hate science very much but i didn't hate this class. Dr. Ladd is a great professor. he tells us his own stories that are very interesting and that help us understand the material. he's funny and an easy grader. somehow i think it's impossible to do badly on his tests. 4 tests (including the final), one 15 pg. paper, 1 take home test.

About 3 tests,1 take home (really easy),10 pg paper. Need to study for tests, all the same format and offers extra credit. Not a hard class,he explains things very well & easy to follow along. Only need the book for the take home test,so split a book w/ someone in the class to save $. I would def recommend him. Shares ALOT about his medical history

Dr. Ladd makes this class passable. While still teaching in a style that allows you to learn ample material - and actually LEARN it not just memorize it. You do have to study for his tests, because it is a lot of material - but well worth it. I would take it over again in a heart beat - and i hate BIO.

Dr. Ladd is freakin awesome. His lectures may sometimes be boring, but he gives us real life examples of what he's teacing. Definitely take this guy, even if you're not a Bio major. I learned that the flu virus kills an average of 8 people per year while west nile kills 6 per year, so don't get freaked out about west nile.

Ladd is one of the best profs I've had. His lectures are very interesting because he provides variety of real-life, practical examples behind the concept being taught. You really have to work for the A in this class, and in the process, you will also learn a lot about microbial world. Enjoy his lectures, and have a desire to learn the material.

Tries to give xtra credit to help ur grade but the class tons of work! I didn't really learn much. I felt frustrated by not learning in his disorganized lab and not ever knowing what to expect on the test even though I studied hard. Be prepared to put a lot of time in but an A is possible w/ the xtra credit. Avoid this class if you don't need it!
