He is such a good lecturer! He gives you a study guide for every test. I recommend getting the textbook because it helps to read the pages of the people/events the study guide. Papers are graded pretty tough, but if you talk to McMahon in office hours, he will really help you to write a good paper.

Comment:

Prof McMahon is a great guy. He cares about his job and is very good at what he does. He makes you work for a good grade but it isn't too much. There isn't any homework. grades consist of participation, 3 exams and two papers. Attendance is very important to him and he has a strict no phone policy. He's a tough grader but he makes you learn alot.

Prof. McMahon is overall an easy teacher if you go to lecture and take in depth notes. The tests are based purely on the lectures and he gives you a study guide before the exam so you know what terms will be on it. There is no weekly homework and the only thing that you turn in are 3 papers the entire semester.

Lectures are the main source of test material. Read the book to double check terms and as a source for papers. Very nice and helpful during office hours. Made history a bit more interesting. Funny too.

I loved McMahon. When taking the class I knew he had taught the subject matter before not from him being boring but from him speaking so fluidly and concisely. Also very funny. I did not ever open the book.

Dr. McMahon is one of my favorite professors. His lectures are very interesting and I looked forward to going to class. Dr. McMahon is very knowledgeable and keeps students engaged. If you take notes during lecture and use the study guides it's a straight forward history class.

Comment:

Dr. McMahon is a walking history book. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and it is evident that he enjoys teaching. The tests are not hard if you take good notes and study. The papers are graded tough, but Dr. McMahon is always willing to help and it feels like he genuinely enjoys doing so. Great teacher, would take again.

Dr. McMahon really wants you to do well. There are three tests, five books, and three papers for the class. As long as you try and put in the effort, you will do well. I would definitely recommend Dr. McMahon because he really knows what he is talking about and clears up any confusion if there is any.

His History 1002 class is a pretty straightforward history class. Pretty much what you'd expect except that his lectures are pretty great, however, I highly recommend doing the readings unless you love history like me. Then you'll probably be alright.

Don't bother buying the textbook, his lectures and powerpoints are what makes up the 3 exams throughout the semester. Super enthusiastic about history, gives decent advice during his office hours. seems to be genuinely interested in student life and making people like history in general

My favorite professor here so far. HIs class is challenging, but he makes you want to meet the challenge. HIs lectures are very interesting and engaging. He is very passionate about history which makes it easy to learn. The tests are alot of work to prep for but he posts study guides that give you exactly what will be on the tests.

Awesome teacher. Makes history interesting even when the material gets dry. He's got a great sense of humor and really knows what he's talking about. Definitely take him!!!
