WIlson is by far the best professor I have ever had! I actually got excited to go to lecture..and didn't want to leave when it was over. He is so passionate about social psych, and he teaches it so well! He is super nice, super approachable, very understanding, and just an awesome professor. Such an interesting class! I highly recommend it!

Comment:

Wilson's lectures are engaging, entertaining, and organized. However, the material itself can often be confusing and contradictory. This makes testing difficult regardless of how effective he is as a lecturer. Be warned for ambiguous test questions and arbitrary grading on the 2 papers. Definitely not boring, though!

Comment:

Wilson knows what he's talking about. He makes it extremely clear what he is testing you on. Lectures are interesting. He uses film clips and demonstrations to make his point. He's very helpful and always up for answering questions. Tests aren't hard. Papers are graded easily. Overall, it's a good class for someone looking for a psychology class.

My favorite class I've taken so far at UVA. Professor Wilson is amazing, he really brings psychology to life with his multimedia examples and his friendly, approachable teaching style. Great class to take for fun. Not too hard and there's a really cool project he assigns near the end of semester.

Comment:

Class is really interesting (lots of film clips/songs/in-class experiments, which are fun but not distracting). Taking notes and even reading rarely felt like a chore, because the stuff is so interesting. Tests are ok if you study. Pushes his political views hard sometimes, but nice guy. Awesome class! Take it!! (Bloody irritiating TAs though)

Social Psyc was absolutely interesting material, and Professor Wilson was gentle and sometimes humorous to lecture. BUT, i dont know why I got so bad grade on this class. I wrote paper hardly, but never got better than B. And I had to keep up lots of reading, but the test questions were always tricky that I did not do well. Not that easy class.

Tim Wilson is such an enjoyable lecturer. The material is inherently interesting, and not very difficult to understand. Papers were tricky (the TAs look for very specific things and it's hard to do well unless you nail them all) but not unmanageable. And midterms were pretty easy as long as you kept up with the reading. Take this class!

I really liked this class, it's by far the most applicable psych class I've taken. There's a fair amount of overlap between lecture and the book (which he co-authored, so they mesh pretty well), but you will be tested on the stuff that's only in one (like specifics of experiment results, etc.). show up and read the book, you should do well.

Professor Wilson is the best! He made psyc so interesting and so applicable to real life. Shows little video clips in class that really add to the lecture. I looked forward to his lectures and even the textbook, which he wrote, was fun to read. Highly recommend taking his class. It will change your world.

Great! I ended up loving Social Psyc and it was my first semester ever taking Psychology! It makes me want to minor in Psychology! Highly recommended! The textbook wasn't a bore and we watched a video in every class!

Take this class if you are looking for a fun, interesting, relatively easy course. My only complaint would be that he covers a lot of the same material in Nosek's 101 class--but I don't know, maybe you will want that. Good professor, take him.

FABULOUS CLASS AND GREAT PROFESSOR! Professor Wilson incorporates clips of videos and TV shows to prove certain elements of social psychology. The class is very interesting and he is an engaging, humble, funny professor. If you read the material and attend lecture the tests are fine. TAKE THIS CLASS

Tim Wilson is an awesome teacher. The class was easy and fun; he included a lot of movie clips during his presentations. The tests aren't bad and he doesn't have a cumulative final. I learned a lot without killing myself. You'll be fine if you do the reading and take notes during class. My discussion section is worthless, but some were good.
