The closest thing to a human history book that exists. His ability to recall specific information across history is impressive, and he tries to keep things lighthearted. You should attend all lectures but you don't need the book. As long as you follow his directions you will pass. 2 essay exams, 1 MC exam, a geography quiz, one book report. Not bad

He's very monotoned. puts you to sleep. His lectures are very boring. If you don't show up to class or go to office hours, its very hard to pass the essay exams because his slides are very minimal. He has 3 essay exams and a 100 question final on things that was never mentioned in class. If you can avoid, don't take him!

Dr. Anderson is a genius. He lectures about the subject matter by memory, not slides. You will walk out of his class with knowledge of the material, and some pretty crazy history facts. That being said, he's a tougher professor. The exams aren't that hard, but his grading is. 3 essay exams, 1 book report, 1 quiz, and an insane MC final.

This guy really knows his stuff, but hes a very tough grader. I attended every class and took thorough notes. I received a C on my first exam. He noted what I missed, however, the topics he said I missed, I actually did mention. I confronted him about it, but he did not want to hear it. Never went to class again, studied by google and did better.

This class had the possibility of being RE ALLY interesting, as it is an interesting time in history. I enjoy history, and am normally really good at it, and remembering things from lectures. I had a hard time with this class. Boring lectures, had a hard time following his train of thought, and it took a lot of work to do well -but it is possible

This guy is a GENIUS. I took him for a course on Ancient Rome, and he could recall every little piece of info you could think of about the subject. He is passionate, and you will definitely learn something. Be wary of him when the Tigers lose a game though, he might take his frustration out on the class, haha. Still awesome though.

People saying things are on the exam that he didnt teach about probably only went to the discussion sections. If you're one of the 10%of his students that attend lectures, you should do fine. His powerpoints are available online and have all the information too. He doesnt put up with BS so anyone expecting to be coddled wont be. He is knowledgeable.

Dr. Anderson is the greatest teacher I have ever had. Ever. He is like a machine. A genius. His tests are very hard but if you study, there are no problems. If you're interested in history, you NEED this guy. If you aren't interested, avoid him because he's a hard teacher, but he's fair.

AWFUL! 3 papers and 1 cumulative final on nothing that he lectures about... the papers weren't so bad, but if you're a really good writer, you'll be penalized. he omitted 3 sections from our course and still expected us to know if for the final. 150 term study sheet for the final, a good chunk weren't in the book and half we didn't even talk about.

I had this professor for many history classes. He is very easy to listen to and entertaining. He gives a study sheet for the exams. If you do the study sheet the exam comes straight from it so it is a piece of cake!

One of the best profs I've ever had. By far the best History prof I've ever had. The man is a genius with a photographic memory - he'll lecture the entire class without looking at his notes. Names, dates, events...he knows them all, and then provides interesting anecdotes. He clearly loves what he does, and it shows. Tests are hard but worth it.

Class is a breeze. Attendance isnt mandatory but you only have 2 exams, a midterm and a final. You write alot of papers, and depending on your TA grading may be tough.

Tom Anderson is a history GOD! This guy's a badass! His lectures are interesting, informative and he has a way of making ancient history relevant. The poster who said he's a genius wasn't lying, but his tests are very doable. Study and read the material and an "A" is well within your reach. Good luck and enjoy! Btw, his hero is Archimedes...4 real!
