Tom knows his stuff and has a great semi-laid back approach to teaching that keeps you interested. The fist couple of assignments are hard, but if you can make it through those you will survive the class. Don't skip his lectures or you will miss good info that will help you succeed. Will take any class he teaches.

Excellent instructor. Not all course content is covered in assignments, take that how you will. Lectures are clear and understandable, attend class and you'll get a great understanding of the material.

Design Patterns with Tom was excellent. EWU really needs either a second course in this series, or a 400-level OO course and this class dedicated to design patterns however. There is too much in this class.

The Assignments are hard, but it makes you think of what to do, he gives simple examples that can be applied in some way to the assignments, never goes on tangents regarding personal life. Answers questions about coding clearly.

I have never seen a teacher teach so clear. Works hard too. Be sure to start homework early, as sometimes he will throw extra credit in. You won't have time to do the extra credit if you don't start early!

This is probably one of, if not the best professor at providing clarity and understanding of a subject (along with Peters). Very indepth at explaining things in an easy way to understand. Excellent professor for CSCD300. Id be a happy camper of he taught a lot more courses!

Had Tom for cscd300. Overall good because he actually cares for the success of his students. Type of teacher that when you ask a question he will instantly think he knows what you are trying to ask and is wrong half the time. Kind of annoying when he starts to explain something you understand. Overall I learned a lot and enjoyed his class.

had him for 3 or 4 classes and each time, he has been reasonable. The lower level classes he has down perfectly, and the organization is exactly what teaching a language needs....the upper level classes are taught from text books, and not very real life based. Tom is overall, a good teacher.

Secure Coding This class could rock so much, but just sucks. To get a 4.0 you need a 97%. This is because he gives a fair amount of extra credit. Does this make sense? It almost makes extra credit mandatory to get the grade you earned anyway. Next, he just reads off his notes. I am paying hundreds for this? What a ripoff.

Tom has gone downhill. Not because he doesn't care or has lost interest. He has too many distractions outside class, comes to class unprepared, he needs to reduce his workload. He should not be teaching this class, as he knows nothing about real world development. His knowlege begins and ends at what he reads & his buddies opinions.
