STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!! Extremely hard. Grades on straight scale, very easy to get an F in the class even if you study! Lots of hard work. Midterms and Finals are long and hard. He is very difficult to understand. This guy can't teach, needs to be fired!

You learn a lot and the material is interesting, but you will fail. >50% will fail, and these are the brightest in CE. Final is ridiculous, you have to naturally be smart and be able to solve material related mindwracking problems never discussed, seen, or read before; no amount of studying can prepare you. Half the ?s difficult, half impossible.

It seems, you understand while you were in the class but his test materials are way harder than the lecture and homeworks. you'll see something totally strange stuff on the test and he wants you to solve it in a limited time. it is just that we don't have enought time. Un-fair tests. No SOLID grading skeme.

It's true that he is NOT an easy teacher, which is why many people dislike him. If you want an easy class, don't take him; but if you want to learn, he will teach you. Nice guy in class and in person, but his tests are difficult. I got an A in his class (a rarity for me...). Decent teacher, fair, but very difficult.

You develop a love/hate relationship with this guy. He is a good teacher and he is interesting but you better pay attention because he will slaughter you on the tests and he doesn't curve them. Class started with about 60 kids and about 10-12 of us survived. But you will know your stuff if you pass his class, guaranteed.

Yeah, he grades hard as hell. And yes you have to study hard as hell. But the man is a damn good teacher and very helpful and approachable if you should come to him with questions. If you take him, just go to class, ask questions in class(he notices), do the homework and you'll be more than fine.

Its true, he's hard. Homeworks take an average of 15-20 hours a week. Class started out with 12 people, but the midterm scared away 8 of them. However, he is the SECOND BEST professor Ive ever had (Chaudry is 1st). Class is insanely interesting. Sometimes we go over 20 minutes and dont notice. I will try to refrain from flaming. Currently in week 5, 19/125 students, 8 or so attend lecture. Lectures are unclear, and do not make homework and lab easier. Grades uncurved and extremely strictly. A professor worthy of your attention, because you most definetely don't want to take his class.

There's no joke, he's really hard. You need to put a lot of time in his classes if you want to pass with a decent grade. On the overall, he's a nice guy even though most don't like him just because he grades on a straight scale. I came out with a C, but I basically studied 10 hours a week.

I dont know why the same person post claiming he's good. He's not. He should be booted from UCI. Lack of curving is just lame considering everyone failed midterm. Look the truth is, if 1 person fails, its his fault. 70% of class fails? Guess who's fault it is
