This class is fun and interesting. This was my first painterly printmaking class. The instructor is straight forward and she expects for students to create ideas. Especially in the sketchbook, she's very demanding about it. However, ask questions just to keep an update. I encourage to do your best and most likely she'll help you.

Novice or advanced art students- in Tonia's class show an interest in your own artistic and personal growth and you will have a mentor for life. Tonia truly cares about her students, and often goes out of her way to see them succeed. Her words are insightful, intelligent, and funny. Her courses are rigorous, and her feedback invaluable.

If someone doesn't like tonia it's most likely because they didn't want to put in the results. I admit, I didn't put in as much as I should have but still took away a lot from the class. Found a new medium I enjoyed and it was a more laid back summer class. Tonia is hilarious and a quality professor!

Tonia is extremely passionate and has TONS of knowledge on anything related to printmaking. I definitely would not recommend her if you are not an Art Major. She expects a lot from her students and pushes you to grow throughout the class. If your work do not develop your work over the semester you wont do well. Take her feedback and put in work!

Took Drawing with Tonia in 06 and 07 She taught me so much; she was a great teacher. Really stressed loosening up and that helped me so much. I would recommend her to anyone who really wants to improve their work. Not an easy class but well worth it.

excellent critique-just listen to her and correct what she suggests! does wander off topic occasionally but really likes the students and wants them to like art. majors were held to higher standard but given chance to always improve their grade. do your homework and redo anything that she suggests and you will do well.

She is VERY HARD. Expects a lot out of you- show up on time for every class, with completed homework, all supplies, and you will do satisfactory. Talk to her about your ideas and concerns with your work and you'll get on her good side. Gave me a C- so that I now have to retake drawing 1, but somehow I managed to get a B+ in drawing 2...

She's an ok teacher. I never know what she's talking about, she'll compare two things that don't even relate to one another. Doesn't show you painting techniques, and makes jokes about your art work when critiquing. Criticism doesn't bother me, but she walks around constantly looking over your shoulder, which I hate! But I like her!

She is HARD, but i learned loads from her! Go to class, turn your work in on time. She demands ALOT from you every class. Make sure you have your supplies ALWAYS. Sometimes she forgets what she assgins. So write it down. BUT i really liked her, thought she was funny. If you wanna learn TONS, takes her.

AWESOME. Tonia is quarky and fun, keeps the environment relaxed when things get busy, which they can. she is easy to talk to and won't beat around the bush, she'll give it to you straight. she is also an awesome artist! She also teaches at MICA if you take classes there.

Tonia is a little nuts but in a good way. I would walk past her and make a weird noise and she’d respond with another crazy noise. She’s particular about u having a theme your work. She won’t give out everyone an A who deserves one because she feels like everyone will take her 'cause of that, b-crap. She keeps you busy with 10 assignments at once

Printmaking can be a great way to enhance a portfolio and learn new artmaking techniques, I hear,but not with this teacher or this class. She tries to be hip and your buddy but just lets the student jump into the water with out a paddle. Never finding a clue of what or how to finish a sucessful piece.
