Comment:
Dr. Caterisano is fairly easy and will let you do your own thing during workouts. Textbook readings are required but they will help with the tests. The labs in the book are optional for up to 3 points extra credit on your final grade. It can be a little distracting when he walks back and forth during lectures but overall he is a good professor.

Dr. Caterisano is one of the best professors I've had at Furman. He is extremely caring and passionate about what he teaches, and he is eager to give you help with your workouts. You have to buy the textbook (it's expensive) and read it to do well on tests, but it's not very hard,

Half the test is made up of the readings you have to do on your own time which I personally think is stupid. Offers extra credit on tests but thats because they are hard. Forces you to workout and doesn't let you play sports during workout time. No power points so attendance is mandatory. Also isn't very nice or approachable.

The class was 2 tests, a participation grade, and a final (which was just a third test). Nothing is cumulative and he makes it clear what you need to study. You need to do readings in this class, but honestly the readings are so easy that I didn't mind. DO go to class for notes though since he doesn't post powerpoints. Also, workouts are easy.

Dr. Caterisano is amazing! He is very kind, and his class truly is not bad at all. He lets you do whatever workouts you want. If you want to try a machine in the gym, ask him! He is very passionate about helping people work out & that will also help with your participation grade. If you take notes in class and study the textbook, you will do fine!

This is a heavy lecture class, and it is all taught on the whiteboard. Read the book, COME to class, and participate/take notes. Workouts were good because you could do what you want, but ask him for advice because he wants to help you and is very nice!! Tests aren't impossible, and he does give some extra credit--but you will have to work for it!

Good guy who genuinely wants to teach students about healthy lifestyles. The class isn't exactly easy, but if you put the work in and attend class regularly an A is possible.

Good professor. He gives grade curves and extra credit which helped my final grade. Lectures are good and discussions are fun.

Doesn't give any partial credit on tests and he doesn't accept abbreviations. So some questions I got right, but he counted them wrong. He doesn't make powerpoints and the few things he writes on the board are very confusing - so DO NOT take if you are a visual learner like I am. So the class was difficult. Other than that, he is a nice guy.

He is very opinionated and will argue with you if you don't agree with him. His quizzes didn't even make sense even though I read through the material and took notes. He love discussion, but be ready to read like 3-4 books.

Just read the previous review and find it hard to believe. They guy is a good teacher and most people I know who have taken him consider his class to be easier than most of the other professors. I though Dr. Cat gave lots of hints about what was on the tests and offered curves if you did better on your next test, even if you got a good grade.

Awful and a GPA killer. Once he failed 11 out of like 20 students for a test, and it is almost impossible to make up the grade with three more tests. His lecture is totally different from the book and he said, What's important to know for the test? Everything I said in lecture and everything in the book. No joke, those were his exact words.

Nice professor but the exams are tricky and you have to know EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of the book! Workouts were nice because you could do what you wanted to . Overall good professor just not good tests!

Dr. Caterisano led an interesting and relaxed class for his first year seminar, Healthy America. He is encouraging, and I learned a lot about the topic, but he did tend to favor the more liberal side of issues, and did not always remain entirely neutral. However, I really enjoyed his class, and he was very knowledgable about the material covered.

The lectures were really easy to follow though he did focus on lifting probably more than any other health science teacher does. He gives lots of extra credit and often hints what will be on tests and wants you to succeed in his class as well as be healthy in life. The workout is not structured so you can just do whatever you want which is nice.

Dr. Caterisano is a good lecturer and does a solid job of relating information to his students. During workouts, I found him easy to approach with questions about how to use the machines. The only problem was with his discussions. He seemed to use them to sway us into believing his version of the truth instead of letting us discuss ours.

He is very clear about what you need to know for the tests and is a pretty interesting lecturer. He really cares about what he is teaching. If you go to class everyday, take notes, and study 2 days before the test you will get an A. However, if you don't study for test you will fail them. He gives so EC at end. Workouts are not organized

Caterisano is a pretty easy teacher as you can create your own workouts and get a pretty good grade pretty easily, but he was sometimes unclear in his notes and tests had ridiculous pointless questions sometimes. I'd say he's good if you want an easy class, but not if you want a really good teacher.

Good prof. lets you do your own workouts but is available to offer help. Tests are right from the notes and the book. Just put in a little time and a good grade is attainable.
