They say if you cant explain something to your grandmother you dont understand it. By that measure Prof. Macula doesnt understand the material. I dont think thats true as hes obviously smart, but I couldve just read the text and skipped the lectures as they didnt help...

So bad. Expected us to teach ourselves complex math ideas. When asked to explain a HW problem he didn't even know how to do the problem he had assigned us, and then would do a different problem... He put in the absolute bare minimum he could and tests on the hardest version of problems and then blamed the class when we all failed. DO NOT TAKE!

He is a brilliant man, but he has difficulty bringing the information to a learnable level. He hasn't had to do Calc 2 on his own in years; he occasionally confuses you more by taking everything to an unnecessary level of difficulty. But, he loves what he teaches and I think everyone interested in math should take a course with him.

Macula seems like a very smart man, but he was not a good Calc 3 teacher at all. He was not prepared at all in class and he hasn't taught it in years, but honestly every thing I learned in this class came from me reading the book. His only grades come from the tests but fortunately they're not bad. I will not be taking a class with him again.

Worst class I have ever taken. You won't have a clue about your average till your final grades come in(if he even submits them). Class is a waste of your time. Do not even think to ask him about grades because he will only freak out.

Yeah, I'm retaking the class with another professor in the department, that's how little I understood him. Vague, boring lectures that seem to last ages. The guy is absolutely brilliant, but he just can't seem to translate any of that to his class. Would not recommend.

Not worth taking a class with him. He is very smart don't get me wrong, but he taught something in class that was not in our book, nor could I find ANYTHING on the internet. Then told us to come to his office hours if we have any questions or need help, so ten minutes later I did. MISTAKE!!! He threw a temper tantrum and refused to answer my ?'s.

i didn't read anything about him before taking this class, & he hadn't taught in a long time here so i was in for a surprise. this is a class that he will make you understand all the ins & outs. he's so intelligent & it gets the best of him sometimes, but he's really a nice guy & will be willing to help any way he can.

The course was abstract algebra but it felt like Whose line is it Anyway? The points didn't matter, and the rules were made up. I recommend avoiding this professor; he is unorganized, has difficulty communicating and sets unrealistic expectations for the students. He's difficult to learn from and made the course very unenjoyable.

Very intelligent and funny man, but difficult professor. His notes are difficult to understand, but if you question them, he makes sure to clarify for you. He's sympathetic and not the hardest grader in the world, but the content of the exams is difficult. Study guides in his class are a major help and got me through some of the exams.

The guy is a complete genius there is no doubt about that just see his page. Calc 1 however is just to easy for him and therefore he is not clear at all when presenting it. Steer clear of him if possible for this class, Calc 1 is below his intelligence and in teaching leaves out steps you might not notice

He's an interesting guy. Not the greatest teacher in the world, but if you talk to him at all, you will discover he's a genius. The tests aren't bad if you look over your work and understand it, but you should keep up with the book. Lectures can be hard to grasp and scattered, but overall I enjoyed the class and learned some fascinating things.

he is super hard with the materials he taught. If you choose the prof to get a good grade, so don't choose him. If you think that you are a good student who try to solve hard problem, so choose him. His test is hard but you can do it. I just love this prof because of the way he treats people.

Horrible math teacher. Do not take him if you have the choice. He cannot teach at all. He is ok guy just does not present the material very clearly and doesnt give you anything to prepare for a test. Going to OH helps but steer clear if possible.

Do not take any classes with him. He does not teach anything all he does is stand in the front and write proofs out and then assigns homework on things that has yet to teach. I taught the whole class to myself using the textbook which is horrible too.

Do not take classes with him! assigns WAY too much HW! and does a horrible job of teaching! skims over the complex stuff and dwells on the basics, basically read the text book and teach yourself. If u are going to have a heavy workload, don't take this class! i dont like him, he once made our class stay late cause we "owed" him 5 min from last time
