It's too bad he will no longer be teaching the class due to his easy style. Personally, I wish there were more educators like him. Yes, all we do is watch movies and write reviews about them, but we had to relate it to our own life experience and RPTA. I learned more about myself than any class I have taken so far in my educational career.

I wish every professor was like Professor Sheppard! Even though it's an easy A, you will learn a lot more than in other classes were you focus way too much on just memorizing textbooks. It is a lot of writing, but he gives you feedback and helps you if you need it. There is no excuse for not getting an A or expanding your mind!

Definitely an easy A. I think its because he just wants students to learn instead of worrying about grades. He is quick to call out BS, but is still kind and reasonable if youre respectful. I think he gave every student an A. He can come off as full of himself, but hes the expert getting paid, Id rather listen to him than some annoying student.

Took him for a 8 week Friday schedule 9-4:30. Lot's of rambling to fill the time and paper topics take forever to get to. He'll make you feel like you're wrong if you speak up and made the class extremely boring just looping around the same topic. Don't take him if you don't have to.

Class was an easy A. Professor is obnoxious and always wants to be right. Ruined the class for me because he spends 7 hours rambling about nothing. Could have easily just given us a prompt for our weekly essay and moved on but he thinks he is better than everyone. Ruined my 6 Fridays listening to this guy. My advice is don't participate.

Amazing class, very engaging lectures. Papers are really easy to write and his grading is very straightforward as well. Easy A as long as you do all the work. Strict about attendance and will call you out if you habitually show up late.

Dr. Sheppard is one of the best professors I've had at sac state. He has a wealth of knowledge, and while his lectures can be long and sometimes seem off topic, he always has interesting things to say if you're willing to listen. We had small homework assignments every couple weeks and one (take home) final.

One of the easiest classes I have taken. Watched movies and then wrote a paper on it. Took his class during winter session and was not stressful at all. Easy A as long as you follow the prompt. Ropes course was fun as well. He makes class interesting and has some humor as well. All you need is one book and he lets you borrow the book.

Very great teacher & nice class for Writing Intensive requirement!! :) Really makes you think deeply about life. He shows you movies about recreation & leisure. You get to write about the movies, how it relates to you, & your thoughts on society. The other essays are about your life. Very fair grader. Also need to take a fun ropes course on campus.

Easiest class I've taken in my entire college career. It was required for my writing intensive course. I learned enough. Ropes course was awesome. Movies were okay. I suppose it could be worst. Nice guy who teaches well. If you need an WI course, this is it! Book is needed for one of the writing assignment, but that's about it. Rent it for a day!

Great course. Watched movies, wrote reviews about them. Easy class overall. I do wish he would ditch the movie "darwin's nightmare" on the final day when you turn in your last paper as it is really not related to the course and made me depressed for a week.

Very unusual class; have to do some writing(5000 words total), field trip was fun; no books to read; watching movies and writing reviews is not that hard. He doesn't criticize anyone's opinion; some of the movies were actually interesting. Take this class, you'll like it!

Being a RLS major- awesome class. But to clear the air it isn't just movie watching & paper writing,you could do that w/out paying for the class!T, also having a second job in the movie area,picks out movies that are related to recreation & aren't your run of the mill flicks.He makes U(non RLS majors) think about how Rec & Leisure apply 2 Ur life!

Need an upper division GE? RLS 122 is the easiest class you'll ever have. Just don't get the book. He never even touched it. No tests, just papers with mandatory word counts for WI limits. Just watch a movie and write on it. Too easy.
