Comment:

Interesting speaker, but hard marker, unhelpful and unfriendly. The marks he took off assignments I found to be petty and undeserved. In class it's his way or the high way. If you oppose his ideas, be prepared to suffer mark wise. I have chosen not to contest bad marks with him for my own well-being. He is blunt and belittling.

Very interesting material and clearly well versed in it. A good lecturer, though not very structured. Mid-term format good and makes attendance important. Not very approachable or friendly but would likely be good should you go to him with specific questions. Likes to keep a distance from his students, which makes him a little cold.

I took this class in 2009-2010, but I don't think it's offered anymore. Ware is a great, kooky and interesting prof who makes English interesting and not at all difficult. I highly recommend a class by him.

Really nice man, interesting lectures. Attendence in lectures is pretty important. A lot of readings, some of which are very long so it is important to do them on time or else you will fall behind. The reason why I am majoring in English! He is engaging, brilliant, humble, and understands what it means to be an effective teacher. Those who criticise him are picking on minor superficialities; if you look deeper at this quirky, jumping, hilarious man you will find a wealth of knowledge and passion for his subject. Didn't like him. He has weird quirks when he talks; makes it hard to focus. Level of discussion was shallow...so I switched to Dr. Straker/Dr. Berg's class.. 100000X better

Wow - I have no idea how anyone can say he is the best professor at Queen's - he's more like the worst professor I've ever had! I'm in Con-Ed and English is one of my teachables. Being in his class made me re-conside whether I even want to teach English! AVOID HIM (& HIS CLASSES) LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Horrible. All of these people stating that he's great must be his favourites -- and yes -- he certainly has favourites. I still get a nervous stomache thinking about how I had to sit through his classes. I am now a PhD candidate in literature, despite the small amount of faith he had in me, despite the way that he made me feel so small.

Ware is simply the best english prof Ive ever had. So energetic- he could teach you anything and you would be enthused to listen. I highly reccomend this class! If anything, you're never bored because he jumps around and yells all the time.

On the whole a really engaging teacher. Goes through things very fast though, so you have to be ready to keep up and speed through things. If you are a Bush supporter definitely avoid him, and also be wary if you are very religious - he's not shy about being an atheist. But he's never boring, and is helpful and responds to emails promptly.
