Comment:

Whalen is the prof who got me hooked on Rhetoric. She is very thorough in her lectures and if you attend class and pay attention, you will do well. She is not an easy grader but she is fair with her marks and is a brilliant human. Love her.

Comment:

Tracy is hands down one of the best profs I've had in my 4 years at U of W. She's funny, caring and incredibly intelligent. She's passionate about what she teaches and wants you to be passionate too. There is a lot of reading in her classes, but she picks interesting things to read. Overall, amazing prof and I would take Rhetorical Criticism again.

I wasn't particularly looking forward to Academic Writing, but Dr. Whalen changed that. She's very well organized, knowledgeable, and knows how to engage a class. If you're motivated to learn, you will get so much out of her class. Absolutely the best Professor I've had at the U of W.

Prof. Whalen is so far the best professor I have had at the UofW. I was dreading this class because I thought it was going to be boring - it turned out to be my favourite class. She is intelligent and knowledgeable, funny, and encouraging. She made sure the class understood what she wanted and was very good at clarifying and inspiring.

Comment:

Dr. Whalen is one of the best professors I've had at the U of W. It definitely helps to go to class, but you will not fall behind if you miss a few classes. Her lectures are insanely interesting, as are the pieces she has you read. Get ready to write a lot of papers, but receive awesome feedback that will help you in the future.

Tracy Whalen is a teacher that you will learn a lot from. She is very knowledgeable within her field and is a very intelligent and sharp person as well. Because she is so sharp, her grading of papers is nearly pedantic, as she is very apt at picking out minor flaws in papers. Moreover, she is a great lecturer, funny, and her class is always fun.

Dr. Whalen cannot be summed up into words. I hate to categorize a professor by their sexual attraction but my interest in rhetoric has peaked significantly while learning it from her (and it's a collective interest among my classmates, I guarantee). Tons of reading. Tons of paper writing, but get ready to fall in love.

A clearly intelligent prof who is exceptionally skilled at communicating (verbally, and also keeping a class enthralled with rhetoric). Has such heart behind her work; one can't help but pick that up and try harder in her class. I loved the course. But she definitely brightened up the class. fair marker. easy to approach about marks or anything else. i think that she tries to talk without her newfie accent and it comes off funny but oh well, she knows her stuff!

Rhetorical Criticism 17.2135/3 Boring subject, terribly boring text... but a great great professor who makes you want to come to class. Not an overly easy course but I was in an academic lull at the time but still pulled off a B. This class has helped me a lot in Creative writing and Professional Style & Editing. Oh, and Tracy is a fox!
