Terrible. So weird: has multiple personalities including a mouse and a little girl. Made everone in the class cry and made them rewrite papers without saying anything constructive. Told the class each of us were important to her, but didn't even know my name next semester. Made my 1st semester at Rollins hell.

Keep in mind, by textbook, I mean the literary books read in the class. I don't understand why everyone gives Dr. Papay such a hard time. She's hilarious. She's resourceful and knows what she's talking about, and if you really express concern to her, she will listen. You just have to open up.

I took this class as a freshman, which everyone advises against, but I found it to be ok. It didn't seem like there was a lot of work until you sat down and did it and finished three hours later, but in the end it was worth it. She's a very strange person (her alter ego is a mouse who makes appearances in class frequently), but overall she's fun.

At first I hated this class and equally Papay. Course work is very hard and she expects a lot. But, after the class was over with I realized that she is actually great. She help me with my writing, she pushed my comfort level in class, and really brought a lot out of me. I mean she is a total sci fi freak, but in the end I am happy I took her.

Papay is absolutely the worst teacher I've had in college. Had her for LOTR literature, might as well been a writing course. She's a real life hobbit & expects you to be one too. Ridiculously pointless class & extremely boring. To top it off, she's rude. Don't take her unless it's absolutely necessary.

Horrible prof, speaks in voices (literally has "voices" that all have diff personalities), tries to push her opinion on you, most assignments are pointless. Outright rude (and not in the fun, cool way) to some of her students. Plays favorites.

I honestly don't know why everyone complains about her. I had her for an Honors class and I didn't find her to be impossible, mean, or any of the other negative things people are saying. If you work hard (go to her for help, etc) you'll be fine, and if you listen to her you'll really improve your writing. She's one of my favorite teacher at Rollins

Horrible. I took her class determined to see it as an opportunity to challenge myself but she's inconsistent with her syllabus. I agree with the 'alter ego' but she really puts down and insults students in her so called 'humor.' She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities though.

Made several people cry and want to quit school. she would make insulting comments and slip into her "alter ego" and speak in a squeaking voice. Challenging course work, which i guess is a good thing. just didn't like her as a person.

Dr. Papay has very long hair. She names things in her house such as lamps after science fiction charachters. She will talk about her grandchilden frequently, but dosnt really have any. Might as well just pretend you are an angry femanist for her thought pieces, its an easy route.

If you're not dedicated to travel writing the scope of this class is too narrow to be enjoyable. Your experiences have to fit inside her TINY window and then you have to expand upon them until you develop carpal. Hope your memory beats mine.

Dr. Papay is an awesome professor and I am distressed to see her rated poorly. My experiences with her were that she was helpful and knowledgable. Also, she's a hoot, and cares deeply about her students. I assume her rating is from kids looking for an easy general education credit got who rubbed the wrong way when she required them to think.

Professor Papay is very demanding, and although this can be expected in English courses at Rollins, she has varied expectations amongst students. It becomes clear who she favors and who she has already determined a grade for early on. I requested to take this class early, and she allowed me to only continually remind me of my lesser abilities.

I had her both semesters Freshman year and she was my Freshman advisor. I dropped out of college at the end of that year, and if that doesn't tell you everything... She is not at all helpful but definitely all crazy. She made me hate English, and that still hasn't changed.
