TA is basically your teacher. Weekly CREs are difficult and grading inconsistent (depends on TA). However, even if your mark is low, if it's higher than average, you're good. Free writes and discussion marks worth doing but free writes force you to stay to end of lecture. Paper worth 50%, do all the components and you're good.

There is absolutely no point to lecture and he is of no use to the class, but unfortunately if you want the 5% participation marks you are forced to go and you have to stay until the end. Your TA will make or break you. Overall, this class was a big pain but I did end up actually learning a lot and obtaining critical thinking skills I did not have.

Dr. Rose is a decent lecturer that is clearly very educated in his field. As far as the class goes, it has been the most useful class in the undergrad so far. There is an insane amount of work but if you put in a marginal amount of effort you can really benefit from this class.

Gordon is the worst professor I've ever had. He's not a reasonable person at all and very inconsiderate. He will make you hand in 1 assignment 3 different ways, and if you forget to hand it in 1/3 of those ways you will not get marks. Forget your last name on an assignment and you won't get marks either, despite all the hard work you put in.

If you can avoid him, you should. Lectures are extremely dry and monotone. He goes over important bits of the textbook, so it's a nice highlight of material - if you can stay awake. He is bad at answering questions/providing examples unless he planned them from before. He can be rude, but I lowkey find it entertaining.

He is hardly involved in the class... don't really know what his purpose of being there is besides introducing guest lecturers and calling out people to talk in class. He also isn't the nicest guy. Your TA will make or break you and the marking is all over the place. Don't throw away easy participation marks because they help.

Very heavy workload. Involved freewrites, online discussions, weekly CREs, and the term paper (including exploratory paper, peer review, peer review response feedback, 1st submission, TA response feedback, final submission). All of which are for marks. Wouldnt recommend taking more than 3 courses while taking this course if you want a good grade.

Your TA will make or break you for this class, make sure to go and ask for feedback often so that you can improve on your weekly CRE's.

This class really isn't difficult so much as it's a butt load of work! The grading criteria is pretty unclear and assignments are graded using the same criteria throughout the semester, meaning that it's assumed that you will fail the first couple assignments. Use your TA, you can only improve and get a good grade by asking them for help.

Having a good TA is everything for this course. My first TA tries to kill everyone by his non-sense grading: half students even got 0 on weekly CRE and the average is 1.7/10! Fortunately he left the class in the middle and we have a new TA, and at the end most of us got B and above. Gordon is doing nothing but asking other profs come and talk.

PYSC 300W is not a difficult course, moreso it is a course with a very very large workload. The TA you have is your professor. Dr. Rose does not lecture and brings in guest lectures. Dr. Rose has the expectation for students to figure out how to improve their papers without a rubric so there's that.... Shout out to Shannon Wright!! Best TA in 300!

This course discusses a lot of concepts from AP psych/psych 100 + 102 so if you've taken that, it shouldn't be too bad. He posts lecture slides the day of lecture and his lecture slides are basically notes from the textbook, so I personally found it helpful to take notes after class by reading the lecture slides and the textbook at the same time.

People act like this class is impossible to do well in, but I put in minimal effort and got a B and I'm not the brightest... The weekly CRE'S are tricky, but you learn how to do them quickly! Attend every lecture (to get participation marks ), do your free-writes, online discussion, attend tutorials, pick a good thesis and you're good to go.

PSYCH 300W was one of my favorite course at SFU. I don't understand all the negative comments. This class consisted of guest lecturers so I can't really rate Gordon. The class itself is not difficult but the amounts of work you need to put in this class is crazy. Stay on top of all the weekly reading and writing assignments and you should be fine.

Gordon thinks quite highly of himself. Slightly monotone in his lectures. Your TA will make you or break you. Mine was Maitland Waddell who was a miniature Gordon. He was very quick to make his students feel dumb and stupid. My critical thinking abilities have increased after this class. But, I really have to say we are set up to fail for this clas

Honestly a great and caring lecturer, I was surprised by the negative comments here but really if you work for it and you take the time to understand and appreciate the course and the instructor, you will do great. His lectures are also so entertaining with the savage undertones, but if you feel roasted then it means you probably need to catch up

This course involve guest lecturers, so I can't really rate Gordon. But this class is a lot of work, don't take 4 course if you are planing to take this course. People in here say that it's hard, it is hard in away that it pushes you to think critically and we might not be use to that. But the material is not hard. I learnt a lot ,glad I took it.

The lecturers for PSYC300W are guests, so I can't rate Dr. Rose on that. PSYC300W is poorly designed and sets students up for defeat. The numerous components leave even strong students scrambling for time. I poured more energy into this course than any other and will receive the lowest grade despite that. Hugely disappointed.

I thought this course would be hard because of the workload. I'm good at writing & I have good time management, so I thought I'd be fine. Boy, was I wrong. The problem is the method of instruction/prof. He doesnt teach for students, he supervises for his own convenience. You will NEED a good TA and writing skills, you won't learn how to write here.

Gordon is the worst professor I ever had. He does not care about his students at all. He also very disrespectful towards other students about comments they made during class discussions. If he did not agree with you he made you feel stupid. I do not think he is fit to teach because of his attitude and lack of understanding towards his students.
