AMAZING person and teacher! Definitely take her for gstr, she takes you slowly through step by step with excellent feedback and help, in groups and individually. She will help you find a topic even if you have no clue, and will help you as you go by. Her grading isn't strict but you learn a lot about writing in her class.

She's a wonderful woman and professor. I've taken a few of her classes, and she has always met with me outside of class to clarify and reassure me. She keeps digital copies of her assignment sheets that can be accessed at any time and has clear expectations. Wonderful woman. :)

A genuinely compassionate human being. Many students go out of their way to take her classes, not because they're easy, but because she is such a joy to be around. If you have the opportunity to take her COM 206 course, absolutely take it.

a long time ago i took verlaine's public speaking class. today, i teach the same class to college freshman. Verlaine is an excellent role model and professor who cares about teaching, and thanks to her, my students are learning what she taught me!
