I read the ratings and thought "Surely he can't be that bad"..he was! Avoid this class!! The work I put into this class was crazy...3 hours a day min! You have hw due everyday so you have to go to class, but class is a complete waste of time! Everything I learned, I taught myself. I got a decent grade...but this class wasn't worth it!

Spends majority of class time on proofs rather than problems. Does not give reasonable partial credit. Cannot help you outside of class. This is a class where you are going to have to teach yourself. Learn Taylor Series, because he loves to ask about it.

I think professor Belfi is utterly useless as an educator. He never dismisses class on time, and his lectures are boring at best. He can do all work to show you how to derive theorems and formulas, but never actually shows you how to apply them. Homework is a must, and tests are killer. I would avoid him unless you are incredible at self-teaching.

He's a hard teacher but I managed an A. He does curve a lot so if you do bad on your exams, don't give up hope just yet. Do the hw assignments and come to class! There are a few quizzes but they aren't bad because they count as much as a hw grade. Just study hard for the exams. If you're a math major, do take. if not..go for an easier prof.

I also took him for Geometry/Topology. He seems like a nice guy on the first day of class, but don't be fooled. He's a pretty boring teacher, and it's hard for me to pay attention. He will never let you out on time, and he has a tendency to stare at the class for 5 minutes if he asks a question and no one answers. Recommend avoiding this prof.

I didn't think it was that bad, and I haven't taken math in 3 years. He's not the nicest guy, but if you go in for office hours he'll answer all your questions - though he doesn't have much sympathy for you if you don't study and don't know "basic material". His tests came from lecture, i thought.

This class is not only boring, but frustrating, annoying, and pretty much HORRIBLE. His class notes and homework don't always correlate and his tests are sometimes impossible. Watch out for pop quizzes. Get ready to work hard and get frustrated

Ever feel like bludgening yourself to death with a mathbook? Take Belfi's class. He is quite possibly the worst teacher that i have ever had and on top of that he offers no help. I have even had a year of calc before this and it was still impossible...I dont know how this man is still teaching.
