Victoria is a great professor and a genuine human being. I was not looking forward to this class at all but am now so glad I took it. In this class you review/discuss works of nonfiction and write four essays, 2 of which are reviewed by the class.

She is a very sweet woman who didn't require a lot of work as long as you were in class and participating. The "textbook" was very cheap from KB books. plus she gives you the option to do a creative project as a final instead of a paper which was refreshing.

Took this class because of the WPA. A lot of reading, book quizzes, two papers, a group presentation, and annotated bibliography. I found the easy and interesting, but you have to like literature to enjoy this class. Prof Featherstone was sweet and open minded.

I was excited for this class, based on my interest in the subject and the reviews on this site. I soon found, however, that the class was uninteresting and the prof was NOT the sweet, helpful lady described here. Rather, her overbearing opinions dominated all "discussions" and assignments were a waste of time. Most people didn't even come to class.

She is super nice and helpful upon any questions.1 easy presentation, book quizzes(sparknotes helps), 3 written papers, and also must attend 2 literary events. Super easy class, most time is spent on last paper and presentation. Classes are a bore to sit through however bc she just talks about the books.

I love Victoria. She is the nicest professor you will meet at SDSU and she genuinely cares about her students. She goes out of her way to make everyone comfortable with every reading. She allowed us to choose an art project over an essay and gave very simple, straightforward quizzes on the readings. She brought us cookies for the last day of class!

Her humor is so subtle yet funny& she is such a sweetheart Assigned a book a week, but the books were short, had group presentations on each book, quiz on each of the books, one short poetry writing paper and a 8-10 page final.

Take this class! You have a reader and a few other novels to read. There is a quiz for each story but they are easy as long as you read them. The only essays (2) you need to write are for the midterm. You can do whatever you want for the final. Takes attendance. You don't have to participate but you get more out of the class if you do. Easy A.

She is very passionate about what she teaches; it shows when she lectures about the text during class. Also an insanely sweet woman. The class is very simple - a book a week with a very short quiz on it when finished. I recommend her and the class. Good choice for easy GE.

Really sweet, caring professor. She seems genuinely interested in what all students have to say, and she offers pretty great advice on your writing. Work load may seem a bit overwhelming at times, but as long as you keep up with it, it's not too bad. There are also just a few quizes (no exams), so that's nice.

Don't buy the reader! Our class only used it about 4-7 times and the reading was mostly done in class and was not tested on. Attendance is MANDATORY, she may not take role call but does make note of who's there. You write about 3 stories. 1 is distributed to the whole class. Don't be intimidated by the subject. It will grow on you. trust me.

Featherstone was an extremely good professor and she made the class interesting. I enjoyed the discussions every time I went to class. She's not an easy professor, but by no means is she difficult either. Just read the novels and you will do fine in the class.

I thought she was wierd at first. She is just an all-aroud nice professor. She cares about her students' writing. She manages her classes well except that she talks too much during critique period. A little off tangent sometimes, but cares and loved English. No Tests. Papers are easy since you create from your own mind. Final is portfolio. EASY!!

If you're a science person do not take this class. She is a nice lady though. But she gives a short amount of time to read a novel and she's a little too abstract for a science major. Not too much work outside the readings. and there are a TON of readings.

I can only reiterate what others have said. Very sweet woman. Loves the subject. Very openminded to wherever your own tastes run. Not biased against any sort of lit or poetry (as some teachers are). We discussed Dahl and Ginsberg in the same class! This makes the class interesting for all. Take her if you can. There was some writing but not long.

Techniques of Poetry. She is one of those creative types that is very into meaning, etc. We did NOT use the books she told us to buy. She is very helpful with feedback on all poetry you turn in, but not at all clear on assignments which included: several poems, 3 poet reports (1 oral), in class writing and workshops.
