Comment:

Although I'm 12 years out from my last class with Vikram, his words still ring crystal-clear. Strunk and White go to all of my new employees who hear "eliminate unnecessary words" to ad nauseum. Vikram was also the first to point out that "When Doves Cry" had no bass. Of the dozens of professors in my five years at UF, only Vikram stands out.

Comment:

I had him for business and writing. He is a great guy and he always has interesting things to say and discuss in class. He tries to really teach every once in a while, and you can learn some good stuff, but mostly the class is talking. Theres also a few small writing assignments and a little reading, but nothing too bad.

It was a great class and I learned a few things about writing. The best part of the class is obviously Vikram, the teacher. I learned about far more then simply writing -- my views didn't always coincide, but still loved the class.

He's a great guy to hang out and just talk with, but he is not a teacher. He will spend the entire semester talking about himself and his views (which are not related to the course at all), and then pull your grade out of the few assignments he gave.

Great teacher, I had him for Business and Leadership Writing (Honors). You don't have to buy all the books he tells you to, but they are really all great books anyway. The only two we discussed in class were "The World is Flat" and "Rich Dad, Poor Dad." You only probably have to write a total of 2000 words for a 6000 word class. You also get to do

This class will not feel like a class. Great discussion, lots of fun, and a truly enjoyable experience. Vikram HAS gotten better about giving assignments and grading them, but yeah, he is kind of lax. And he does like to hear himself talk. So what? He's funny and insightful, and an honestly kind man. I had a great time.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He's a talented writer, but doesn't even try to be a teacher. You get no meaningful feedback; there are very few writing assignments (like three) which don't get turned in or handed back to you. This class is about Gandhi, Indian history, and how awesome Vikram is. Fun at first but you will not learn anything. Don't take it.

The class is unfulfilling. Great topics, good lectures, but nothing is done thoroughly. On top of that, Vikram just likes to add in whatever he feels like, certain things on India are things that dont exactly fit course description. So it's a evocative class but not quite complete.

This was a bogus class! The essay topics were interesting, as were the readings, but it just doesn't all come together in the end. Not enough feedback from Vikram about what we were doing, though he still managed to talk a lot about himself. He also cancelled class several times, but since it's a block, one class equals three. It adds up, man.

Writing and Love. Vikram is hilarious, kind, and extremely intelligent. Probably one of my favorite people that I have ever met. This class is easy and unstructured, but that is the way he wants it to be. With the more relaxed atmosphere the class can discuss things with more depth. More of a discussion class than a Gordon Rule Class.

Was very hyped to take this class. Was very dissappointed once I had it. Canceled class twice (class is only once a week). Took months to get papers back. We only had THREE papers the entire time. Vikram is a knowledgable & good teacher, but a HUGE slacker & NOT professional. Wish i had taken the class another year b4 he "overcommitted" himself.

(Writing for Bus. & Lead.) Fantastic at teaching you the realities of the business world; adequate at actually teaching you to write well. Some reading but it was very interesting. Not as much writing as you'd expect. Vikram is VERY helpful if you ask, as well as a truly nice and honest person.

Yowza! I always looked forward to this class. There is very little structure it, but I found this made it more fun. You learn the Life Story of Vikram, but his openness made me a more expressive writer. And yes, he's a self-absorbed meglomaniac.

Writing and Love with Vikram Rangala. This man is ab****ely hilarious. He is very nice, understanding, and accomodating. This class is a Gordon Rule class, but you really do not write excessively, mostly discuss the books read and diverge into sometimes random discussion. Good class though. Very fun
