Comment:

Shields is great at explaining and re-enforcing the subjects in A&P. Her lecture book is very clear and so helpful. It's a lot of info but what do you expect, its a hard class in general. But she makes it a lot less stressful! She's very enthusiastic and wants the best for all of her students. Study whats in her book and you will do just fine!

I took her A&P I class last semester and she was amazing. She has her own lecture book with fill-in-the-blanks styled powerpoint slides. So everything is very organized and her exams come straight from that book And she tries her best to help. Just approach her. The class is definitely hard. However, if you study really hard, you can get an A+.

I do NOT RECOMMEND her. The lab tests are difficult. She is to broad when asking lab ?'s,she isnt specific enough. Such as she will ask, what skin layer is this cell found in? Its many layers to the skin,it can be in a main layer or a layer within the main layer. If I said it was in the correct main layer,it was wrong cuz it wasnt specific enough.

She is 1 of the worst professors I have ever had. I did not like the fact that her class notes consisted of fill in the blanks notes. It was hard to concept the material while trying to make sure you are filling in the blanks. She does not like to do multiple choice tests nor like answering class ?'s. She always had an attitude when a ? was asked.

TAKE THIS CLASS! She is a great teacher, her lectures are based on interesting AND imperative physiology information. She is so understanding and an extremely fair grader! This is not an easy class but it is well worth taking with this teacher! She does not twist her material into complicated jargon like most of the physiology teachers here!

Great Teacher, her lecture is very helpful and her test come straight from there. However her test are extremely tricky, so you must know the material inside and out. She offers alot of extra credit to help boost your grade. Anatomy is hard within it self so you have to work hard

She is AMAZING! I would highly recommend her to anyone taking Anatomy 1 or 2. She gives you thorough review sheets of what she is going to ask on the test. Anatomy is very hard, but if you study a LOT it you can get an A. She will not let you fail! Defintely take her!!

Anatomy is hard. She tells you on the 1st day 0% of people will not pass the class, so you are going to need to work. Her lecture book was absolutely great. If you sought her out and she knew you were trying, she was extremely helpful. If you send her an email and she's never seen you at an open lab, don't get mad if you don't get a response.

looking at previous comments i was scared to take her but shes actually a pretty nice prof. she offers extra credit, study sessions, one-on-ones and study guide for exams. she not difficult the class is...TA Kal is pretty awesome, they both do a good job teaching. she rambles a little but TAKE HER! A&P made more sense with her!

Good teacher. Explains things thoroughly (almost too much), to make sure we understand. Offers a book of notes (not free of course) with her slides, and some words missing so we can fill them in during class. She's pretty lenient on exams, and offers extra credit through pop quizes. Labs are great. If you actually study, you have a chance at an A!

She is a great teacher I'm not sure why others think she is so horrible! The notes are simple all you do is fill in the blank, which can get boring but is SO HELPFUL when you study. and she gives you a study guide. You have to study but its anatomy, comeon.She even goes around at lab and makes sure you understand the material. LOVE THIS TEACHER!

The organization of her notes are very confusing and class consists of filling in blanks. She does not always respond to emails and when she does they usually don't answer the questions you ask. She does offer extra credit--which is a plus. The class is not impossible but anatomy is hard anyway so i would suggest another professor.

Worst teacher/class I have ever had. Expections on tests are extremely unreasonable (you are responsible for the most obsure infomormation). She doesn't curve and doesn't offer any additional work to help you. Ive never gotten below a B on any college Ive ever taken and I am going to be forced to withdraw and retake it. Avoid at all costs!!!!

i dont understand how ANYONE can like this woman. shes extremely monotone, and HATES answering questions. she WILL NOT curve a test, even if a huge majority of the class does poorly, which they will, trust me. shes one of those teachers who purposefully puts all the obscure information on the tests.you will NEVER get out of lab early. EVER

Von Von Shields was pregnant when teaching our class so she didn't really seem so interested in the well being of the class. We also had a TA for lab and he was a zoologist so he knew nothing about human anatomy which made it more difficult. Lecture she just flipped through power points, so it was really hard to stay awake.

She's great!I was so freaked to take this class as a freshman,it easily became my favorite class despite the tons of info. She basically gives u the notes just fill in the blanks when she goes over it in class. She's always ready to help, quizzes are strictly extra credit and the tests are extremely fair. Labs are tough but it's just the material.

Dr. Shields is absolutely the best Anatomy teacher at Towson. The exams are easy, you definetly have to study, but duh, its ANATOMY! I thought the class was easy, but thats just me. I learned so much, what a great teacher! She can seem rude sometimes, but thats probably just because youre annoying. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER.
