Dr. Klassen is one of the best instructors. He will make sure you understand the basics so that you can build on top of your fundamentals. I had a great time taking as many of his classes as possible.

When I was first read these reviews I was so afraid of this class... I did all the homework and studied the way you're supposed to and received an A in the class and was exempt from the final. He doesn't teach you problems directly, as in step by step.. but if you do the homework you will understand whats going on

This guy is funny & full of charming life stories but he is a horrible professor. Homework is institutionally insane (3+ hours per night). Class is 50 minutes. 25 of which are life anecdotes and the other are students writing stuff on the board. You teach yourself and even then you may fail. Even math majors fail this class lol

He gives about 2 hours of homework a night. Make sure not to take too many hard classes if you enroll in his class. There is a lot of homework but it really helps on the exam. He uses simple homework questions on the exam. You have to teach yourself in this class and dedicate yourself if you want a good grade.

I don't understand how he is still a professor. He covers more topics about his own life rather than topics in calculus. If you ask questions, you'll still be clueless. He just writes stuff on the board and expects you to understand after reading from the book which is not too helpful either. I'm glad I just passed this class.

Great teacher but you have to do homework which is normal in math class. I recommend him! He is very helpful and nice.

Gives at least 30 questions of CALC hw a night! Takes at least 2 hours to do and if you're taking the 4dayweek section, good luck if you have any other difficult classes. When I went to him explaining that I just couldn't keep up with the homework demand because of taking 3 other bio and chem classes and working, he told me dont come anymore :

Definitely don't recommend if you are not a fast learner. His teaching style requires you to learn on your own and ask questions in class if you have any. He seldom goes over a section in class. I didn't go to office hours, but I did dedicate a lot of time(2-3hrs)studying most nights! He's a cool guy but it's definitely a grade to work for.

He is nice but I regret taking his class. I'm a math major and had trouble keeping up. There is homework every night and you have to read the section beforehand if you want to even mildly understand what he's saying in class. Him "teaching" is just going over problems from the night before and expects you to understand everything he's talking about

Not a hard teacher at all if effort is put towards your grade. Effort means two hour homework each night, and studying. Goes over exactly what to expect for exams; do not be afraid to ask questions. Calc is a hard subject in itself, so study each night and don't fall behind and you'll be fine.

This guy is easy. A lot of homework, but not much work. He expects you to read the section prior to each class meeting. Sit in the front and you'll learn. He gives out tons of quizzes for extra credit towards the end of the semester. He hands out the same two quizzes throughout the semester.

Dr. Klassen is a great professor and people who complained about too much homework are the ones who failed his class. This isn't a stroll in the park. In order to acquire the grade that you deserve you need to put in the time and effort. Put in zero effort and give up before you even started just comes to show you are not ready for the real world.

The first day he gave our class a quiz (which counted towards our grade). The guy simply is a bad teacher, he talks about EVERYTHING but math. Theres alot of HW and quizes (10-12) plus no calculators on tests. I consider myself a good student, but even I was lost due to lack of instruction. Believe me when I say this, DO NOT TAKE, YOU WILL NOT PASS

First day, he expects you to remember formulas from Math 150A. He also expected students to have the textbook already and reviewing the chapters. Homework given out first day, and it's due the next class meet. Do not take! There's a reason why this class is open. No one wants to take it!!

Gotta stand up for him here. there is no doubt he is hard, rambles a lot, and is kind of derogatory. But if you shouw up every day, do the homework (which is written) and study for tests, you will do just fine. He does not give plus or minus grades, just straight letters. Don't take if you do not intend to pay attention.

His passing rates are really low. He assigns WAY to much homework. If you take him I would suggest thatit be the only hard class you take (dont take calc and chem or bio) all your focus needs to be on this class. The work load is ridiculous. He doesnt lecture on the material at all, if so its done poorly. He expects you to self teach yourself.

STAY AWAY! He talks about everything but calculus...and if he does it is done really fast, not legible, and he does not convey any clear ideas as to problem solving. THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD
